Counter-Strike won't work with WB skins

After installing the program, i tried to play counter strike using Steam, in the "Internet" tab, this message pop up



" steam.exe (main exception) : win32 StructuredException at 0439065E : Attempted to read from virtual address 0 without appropriate access right"



After pressing "ok" from the window pop up , steam automatically closed. I tried using other skins, but the problem is still the same.I even tried to go to the setting section, per application and disable skin for steam.exe. But  the problem still couldn't be resolve.



To play the game, I have to change back to the original window XP skin. Pretty annoying.



Can anyone help a noob ? thanks for the help.

Hi, I've just installed windowsblinds5 too, so I fired up counterstrike source and thankfully its ok



Theres a few things I can suggest though, it sounds to me as though steams having problems with memory address conflicts because it wants to use part of the graphics card that is being used by WB.


Try turning off 3D hardware support in WB, go into Settings > Basic Settings > and click the Performance Button > unclick 'Enable Hyperpaint' > click OK > Apply settings
Thats the only area I can see in WB that requires 3D hardware support.



As I say mine is fine, though I've recently reinstalled windows and I got a 9800Pro graphics card, so if that doesn't work check that you've got the latest version of directX, and maybe even your graphics card settings if you've got some sort of tweak tool running.

You might try excluding Steam.exe and hl2.exe in Windowblinds Configurations -> Settings -> Per Application.

If that does not work, try finding your Steam.exe file (and maybe hl2.exe also, again). Right click, select the Compatability tab, then check Disable Visual Themes.

I run Counter Strike: SOurce along side WIndowblinds with no problem, so the above suggestions may not help. Of course, check sound and video drivers for latest versions.

OMG .. Still not working !!! sigh sigh


  What type of problem is it ? I still can't figure it out ... Should I re-download steam ? There's no point I am goin to buy this product if it doesn't work.


Looks like I am stuck with the original xp display on my desktop.


I would die to know the answer to why can't steam work while I'm using WB skins.
