Evil Nasty IP issue

sigh...

I've went for some time without using Icon Packager, simply because I found it to cause some occasional issues on my system. (IP has had some growth pains during the last few months I believe) I thought I would leave well enough alone until I stopped seeing posts about it acting up.
Then Treetog comes out with some really really fantastic icons.... fire up SDCentral and commence the install process.
All went well until I rebooted about an hour later. BAM... explorer.exe kept crashing. I managed to keep in running long enough to fire up SDCentral and IMMEDIATELY uninstall Icon Packager. Problem solved!
Upon review of my Application Event Logs, here is what I discovered...

Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module iprepair.dll, version 3.1.0.0, fault address 0x00003182.

Thought you might like to know.

It looks like a Firewall issue to me too. I think you are using Zone Alarm ... right?

Zone Alarm

No... I don't use a software firewall at all. I have a hardware firewall. A linksys device.

This has been happening to me with every IP update since about last November. My PC was down for 5 days the first time until I ran Hijackthis,nd saw the iprepair.dll on it.  I just had to do a system restore this morning from an IP update I did on Saturday.

I had the same exact issue. My windows explorer.exe would continuously crash & restart. It Crashed my computer to where I eventually couldn't log into windows. It would log me in and immediately log me out(This part probably a result of my trying to fix the flashing desktop.) I bought a new computer and the same thing happened after installing IP v3.10.[b] .002 (I only had the computer for 2 days). After backtracking, I uninstalled the Object Desktop and everything was fine. I suspect it was Icon Packager. It worked after install but crashes system on System boot. As of now I only have SD Central and WB5 installed and checking from there. My stats are -

Motion Computing LE1600 Tablet PC, XP 2005 tablet edition SP2

Object Desktop full subscription -

WB5 5.01.006  -GT3 theme

IP 3.10.[b] .002 - PIX Office theme & OHMYNitroXtremelite.ipicons also

Control Center 1.95[b].002

Here here here! I also have a Tablet PC, and with IconPackager installed and any suite applied I can't start my PC. Exlorer loads, crashes, loads, crashes ... when I manage to open IconPackager and apply the Windows default icons, the crashing stops. After that I switch back to Apogee, and then it works. So I'm trying not to reboot, just send the laptop to sleeping mode. But that could not be the solution ...
