Trade Goods Bugs?

With the new beta, I traded for a couple trade goods with the Torians (hull plating and the speed booster, I think), but they're not showing up in my trade inventory. Nor do I have the option to build those goods. Is this a bug? Do I have the goods and benefiting from them without knowing it, or is this a bug in the beta?

So you got those items in a trade? Only the player that built the items can trade them, so when you trade for them, you get the bonus, but can't turn around and trade them to others.

Plus you have to build the building that gives the bonus. Seems you buy the blueprints from the other race to build that which gives you the bonus.

Just to be clear, yes I traded for those items from the Torians. I just want confirmation those items became mine...and that I can trade for those items even if I didn't have any "tiles" left on my planets.

EDIT: Also, I did have the tech for those items. They just beat me to it. But like I said before, after trading for the items, I didn't see the ability to build those trade goods. So again, did I actually receive those items, or is this a bug?

YOu mean the building that builds them?

Those are maximum of one. (Ie only one Xinathium-ium-whateever can be built)

Right Drone, the Torians built the bldg and hence the item before I could. So in the trade screen later in the game, I traded tech/cash for those two items. However, throughout the rest of the game, I was not given the option to build those two trade goods, nor did I see it in my inventory of tradeable goods when dealing with other races. So, did I ever get those two items? Or did I give the Torians tech and cash for nothing? Also note, it no longer showed up on the list of tradeable goods for the Torians either.

Those items give you a bonus, you get that bonus when you trade. Only the torians can trade the item if they built it first. Xinatium gives your ships more hps the other gravity accel. makes your ships go faster. Both benefits you now have but only the torians can grant them to other people. Now, If you capture the torian world that has the original stash items built on it you can then trade them to other races (and since the AI never bothers to trade these items, no one else will have them yet). That is the only way you can trade them. You get the benefit of them (When you trade for them), not the ability to trade them or build them. That is what the first response was trying to tell you, I hope this got across.

Thanks Chuck! I'm clear on it now. If I build it myself or receive it through conquest, it's mine to do as I wish, including trade away (though the bldg remains, I bet). If I trade for them, I receive the benefits but cannot trade it away. I also have the benefit of not using up a tile, it seems.

I guess the devs need to enable decommissioing of the appropriate tiles if we or the AI no longer possess a trade good.

The race that owns the trade good has the building on their planet (either cause they built it first, or because they took the planet over.) The owner basically trades the rights to use the item to other races, rather than the building itself. The owner can sell those rights to however many different races he wants, but those races can't sell the rights to someone else.

So there isn't any reason to decommission the building because the AI traded the rights to you. They can still turn around and trade it to any of the other players as well.

Here's the real question. Say you trade a good with someone. Can you "untrade" it later if you happen to not want them to have hull plating while you're trying to conquer them, for example?

Nope, once you hand that item over it belongs to that other races forever. No "Takesies-backsies" in the GC2 world

It would be nice if you could see which trade goods you have control of and those you have traded for in the Stats screen. Likewise see which trade goods an AI has under their stats.

(bump)

Second this as an update item.

Even though I have traded for that item I don't see it on my screen, (even if I don't get to trade it to anyone else I should still see that I have it maybe with a note after that its not tradeable...)

Question though, when I take over the planet that the trade good was on (where the tile has been built) do I take over all the rights? If not... shouldn't I?

If I recall correcly, you take over control over conquered trade goods.

So does the original builder get the benefit for building it or just selling the goods?

i.e. I build Xanthium-ium-ium Hull plating so I can trade the goods and the AI gets the 25%hp (or wotever) benefit. Do I also get the 25% benefit as the "developer" of the goods?

Because to me the 25% (or wotever) is worth far more than the poxy 640bc the AI is willing to give me for it. Also the AI NOT having the 25% is worth far more than 640bc...!!

As the builder, you can trade the "license" for that trade good to anyone. So you still retain the benefits of a trade good when you trade it to another. Usually, players will gift or trade trade goods to allies or friendlies fighting proxy wars. As long as you don't lose the planet the goods are built upon, you can trade it to as many as you want and still retain the benefits.

taking diplomatic translators (DT) as example.

There is only going to be one building galaxy wide relating to DT. If you trade for DT you do not have to build anything to get the benefit, that is what you paid your $3.25 for. I got the impression you think that something still has to be built when you obtain a trade good through the diplomacy screen. This is not the case.
