Diplomacy question

Alright, What does it mean when the damn A.I says "We know what your doing" I don't have any military, I did take over another major race. But my military is below average and I have nothing in their terriory except trade routes. Any information on this would be great, thanks.

I noticed the AI had that in their relations report after I started working towards a cultural victory and their worlds were flipping over to me. I'm not sure if this is related at all, but that's what I assumed it meant at the time. I even got a message from the Altarians once saying that however much they loved my music, they don't like losing their worlds

its self explanitory. "we know what your doing" means the ai is telling you -in 5 syllables- they know what you are doing.
duh.
and wouldent care really. so what. i mean, its not (depending on diff.) like their gona whoop ur butt in 2 turns. (well, with no milatary, i stand corrected. 1 turn is a bit closer.

just ignore it. i once got that message before 5 turns had passed.(not always.)
good luck anyway.

Are you playing the 1.1 beta?

Prior to this I've only got 'We know what you're doing' when I am transparantly mounting an offensive. With the Beta it seems to crop up even when I'm not 'doing' anything. Perhaps something that needs tweeking.

Haven't seen it in 1.1 yet, but I've always taken it to mean they're concerned with my cultural expansion.

I have a feeling that it's a bit like the report system you get. Sometimes your quarterly report will tell you what kind of strategy another AI is adopting..... this seems sometimes similar.

Most of the time though it is something you are directly doing, like building influence starbases near or in their influence borders, having a sudden military buildup, planting troop transports or fleets near or in their space.

Other times you have to wonder.... an AI tells me "We know what you are doing!" and I have to think they have full espionage on me.... because they surely know more than me because I had no plans for that particular AI.

When I first started playing I found it really funny - you know what I am doing? Please tell me then because I DONT!

I'm playing the same kind of game I always play: passive diplomatic victory goal. Before the beta 1.1, I rarely saw that message. But I've seen it from three different civs in my first (only) beta game.

The only things I can think of would be a hypersensitivity of the AI to sudden military buildup or to influence starbases outside my own "territory". The first AI to "know what I'm doing" showed that message sometime after I went from zero military to three Defender-type ships, one in orbit around each of my planets. But the timing also correlates to my building a starbase halfway between me and the furthest AI so I could send a freighter. That wasn't in anyone's "territory", but I did choose to make it an influence starbase because that made more sense than military or economic for a range-extender base. It wasn't anywhere close to the AI that suspected me of something, however.

My best guess is that it's the sudden military buildup. The other two AIs that later on gave that message did so around the time I built up from those Defenders to military parity with some medium-hull ships.

I presumed it meant the AI had been using espionage against you.

Also other time i've seen it was when i was building influence starbases as well.

You could probably really gimmick the AI if you wanted to be a dick about it.

When one of their planets flips over to you, just strip it of all embassy and morale improvements, then sell it back to them for some tech or money. Or make it a gift to keep them from going to war.

In a few turns, it should flip back to you again.

END COMMUNICATION

"At lower difficulty levels if the player is being really blatant the AI will say "We know what you're doing". But at higher levels, it will rarely provide clues or be vauge."

Basically its saying that it knows wut ur doing and it will react to it but at higher levels it wont even let on to what it knows.
