Flagship?

What exactly does it mean for a ship to be your flagship?
What does the tech that allows your starbases to be your fleet flagship actually do?
How do you designate a ship to be your flagship?

I think it's just the name of the first ship they give you. I've only finished one game but i never saw anything else about any kind of flagship bonus or designating a flagship.

i think they just give you a good ship to allow you to explore quick and survey anomolies while you start building up.

The Flagship name is really a misnomer. Its not really a flagship but a free unarmed survey ship you get at the start of the game to explore anomolies with. Once you get medium hulls you can upgrade it to something with guns and weapons so its a real 'flagship'.

What about my second question, about the tech Starbase Conquest Strategy? What does it mean when it says that your starbases can be appointed flagships?

I think the idea of the "flagship" is its your races first hyperdrive-capable-ship, its as if they poured tons of resources into it (its got sensors+decent engines)... and without a scout/surveyor in the beginning the start of the game would go way slower

RaijenArDesh, I guess no one told you that anomalies generate randomly throughout the game, huh?

I think they used "flagship" not in the context of it actually being a ship, but that you'd use starbases as the spearhead of your military force.

Kinda like some companies have what they call a "flagship product", even though they're not actually selling flagships. A "flagship" in this sense is just a declaration of focus.

Military starbases if you put them in a good spot can be used for attack in way, they gives bonuses to your ships and with all upgrades for other ships support, even a star fury is a lethal opponent.

A flagship is any ship with an Admirals flag. Frankly, I think it'd be better if each group had a different, themed, name instead of just 'flagship'.

There is nothing stopping you from individually naming each and every one of your ships, Except for yourself.

The exploration ship could be considered a flagship because it:

A. Goes where no man has gone before - Into anomalies.

B. Is the first non-expendable ship you get in the game (Where expendables comprise of Constructors, Colony ships, Freighters and Invasion Transports)

C. Is useful insofar that it provides new racial bonuses to you.

D. 20% of them look like the Enterprise.

Hope that helped
