Social production and Leases

I think everyone familiar with the social production thing, as in you pay for hammers that you not even using, i have say this is real bad design, i read somewhere its like that intentionally, if so cant they really explain WHY!! i means its insane, in large universe with lots planets and factories i cant put social spend any higher than 10% otherwise it cripples my account with to much wasted expenditure, meanwhile less developed planets are producing like 1 or 2 hammers and so are usless and tit take forever to build (even with social production planet focus)

which leads me to next thing, leases, consider most my building on under developed planets take to long to build i got into habit of buying the buildings BIG mistake...

I thought it be like a loan, you pay so much now, and pay rest of week by week with interest for so long, except it seems they a problem, i been playing game for AGES and i STILL paying for the leases i bought right at begin of game, its seems they never expire at all, so buying anything just adds a crazy amout of extra expense which seem permant, so again it cripples economy.

has anyone else noticed this?

Well, what I do is simply decommission some factories. Usually, I have to do this anyway to make room to build super projects on my most productive planets. I won't decommission factories on bonus tiles though. A couple of those are sufficient to build things. I tend to help some of my newer planets by buying the first factory and letting them work on the second factory for a few turns. The very advanced factories are extremely expensive so I want a few hammers earned by the planet. Then I'll pay whatever price to build them and they can go on their own.

I never get leases. I did the math and realized that simply having a couple of them would be guaranteering deficits. It's like paying a terrible interest rate. Just don't use them. Go into the red a bit if you have to to buy a colony ship or building, then work your way out of it. Yeah, it's a pain but better in the long term.

I would like to have two switches (for every planet individualy):

1, disable autoupgrade

2, disable social production (so when I set the slider it still won't build anything)

please

Its pretty clearly presented what you are paying and for how long up front. Are you saying that the weekly portion never expires? If you chose the 4th option (which is easilly the worst) then you have like 100 weeks or more of payments. To simplify only chose option 1, if you don't have the cash, drop your spending for a turn or two until you do have the cash, or sell off something to some lagging empire.

yup that what it seems, after a while i saw my leases building up, so i simply stopped buying, by then i had incredible diplomacy anyway, i could 'buy' new tech of other races, and then sell a lesser version to ever other race and a HUGH profit anyway (like buy laser IV for me and sell everyone else laser III etc) so i literally didnt need to buy anymore, but MUCH later in game i finally started encounter problem in my economy, so i started to micro manage my speding, and i noticed after all that time i was STILL paying lease fees, i must of been well over the term for payment, but still out curious i basically saved my game and skipped ahead turn after turn to see if they would ever go away and they didnt, so i assume its a bug or maybe its meant to be like that, ie like rent

I also would rather that used social production not be charged. This was the original intent and is documented this way in the manual but the design was later changed.

I like the social labor lag in the game.
I guess you can't just take a billion people trained in construction and turn them into starship technicians in one week.

1, disable autoupgrade

goto planet details, then govenor. you can disable it there.

Take a look at the lease cost options. It may cost 1000bc to build, or 500bc plus 50bc for 30 weeks (making it cost 2000!). Leasing costs need to be relooked at because the payment over time options cost way too much.
