[BUG?] No Detailed Graphics on Ships

I don't know if this is a known issue or if it has been fixed, but I can't see detailed textures on my ships. maybe I missed an option to enable/disable it, I dunno. I'm using the terran alliance, and the ships are just plain blue and white, no extra detail like windows and stuff on the hull I also can't use my middle mouse button to rotate the camera, is there another way to rotate? Your card doesn't support bump mapping, so the texture isn't showing up.  We're working on more video options which will allow you to have textures without the bump mapping.

GeForce 4 440 ... omg, you really should consider buying something new. GeForce 6600 is worth a look, but maybe they (ATi or Nvidia) released something better since I lurked their products.

3D-Analyze (http://www.tommti-systems.de/start.html) was mentioned in another thread. I too have a Geforce4 440 go in a Toshiba 5000 X1Z (Canadian version very close to yours) and it does work, with no noticable performance degradation. Two thumbs up!

Now, some help me decide if I am going to buy a new Toshiba P-100 T2400 Centrino Duo, or wait...

what does 3D-Analyze do and how can it help me?

It does some crazy software emulation of the more advanced 3d effects that your card can't support. It may increase the quality substantially (unless the CPU can't keep up with it, but apparently it's quite optimized).

wow that program works sexcellently! looks really nice and no performance drop! I hope the devs take a look at this program for emulating textures!

btw, which features should I be emulating for good textures and maybe lighting too? right now I'm emulating everything and I don't really know that they're doing...

The original poster recommended turning on all the checkboxes in Hardware Limits (cap bits) except 'emulate other DX8.1 caps'. I haven't experimented with any other settings, was happy enough with the initial results.
