Class 31 planet

the biggest I've seen

I played a lot of GalCiv I when it came out, but I just stumbled across a Class 31 planet in my first game of GalCiv 2. Actually, it's a class 26 planet, but my racial bonuses bump it up to a 31. Sweet! Naturally, I named it 'Eden' and took a screen capture for posterity

It also has 3 bonus squares

By the way, it would be nice to be able to rename stars, not just planets.

Planets range from 0 (Uninhabitable) with a gap that leaves non existant 1's 2's and 3's, and 4-26 which are from the most crappy inhabitable planets to the best paradise worlds there are (Mars to Eden).

The racial bonuses for Planet Quality will at most turn a Q26 planet into a Q32 planet.

Then you have terraforming which will on average improve 6 classes by the time it is done.

So we have a Q38 planet.

PQ improving galactic resources were scrapped a long time ago in Galciv I days..So those are out of the question.

And even if you got the +50% evil planetquality random event bonus, You would only have a class 48 or so planet, Which fills up all of the board (1PQ = 1 tile AFAIK).

So a Q72 planet is impossible.

For proof, Could someone take a screenshot of the planet lay out screen and bring up the fake screenshot, Alt tab between the two and you should notice the 72 being a few pixels off..

(Educated guess)

I still won't believe it's REAL. I came to same conclusion, no way for a PQ of 72. I will not be satisfied its real unless a metaverse save can show that. Otherwise its too easy to go and edit your customplanets.xml

There was a Gal Civ 1 random event that could boost PQ into the 40s. Finding some Precussor artifact if I recall. Same thing in Gal Civ 2?

Well, Brad posted a comment and said he had never seen it but didn't say it was impossible.

There is also the P cheat that increases the PQ by 1. I suppose you could keep pushing the keys and find out if it is possible or not. It certainly doesn't seem like a possible real event.

Oh yeah..It is..

There is a random event that doubles PQ..

However its very rare, The rough equivilent of winning the lottery.

But if the Dev Team is half as smart as I suspect them to be, They would have restricted it for low level planets (To a max of say, Level 10 planets) *enquireing glance at dev team*

Lol... that's funny, it really is. It's a legit picture (it was an actual picture since I didn't know how to workt eh whole screen shot thing). Did you take into acount random bonuses that boost planet rankings? I still have the save game with it, i've offered to give it (and anyhting else) to the devs sothey can see it's unmodded. I've done everything I know how to do, knowing some would still refuse to believe it. What can I say, some people still think the earth is flat. I didn't edit, i didn't cheat, it just happened. Why would I lie? I have nothing to gain, it doesn't mean I'm better, I don't even own the planet, if anything it's a boost for the AI (I don't even know how to mod the game). But, what ever, if it happens to you, then you'll know. It's a great game, and it is that, a game.

I've legitimately hit PQ 56, so I'm hesitant to say this wasn't legit. It still boggles the mind.

In my first game after retail, I had a 26 class planet sitting right next to my home star. After I terraformed it completely, I got it to a 36. Now, if I had hit the doubling event, it would have ended up being a 72... and a complete paradise.

It's possible, just very very very rare. When I got my 26, I mentioned it on the IRC channel and Brad commented that in all of the beta and gamma, he himself had never seen a 26 in one of his games. So if you see a planet that good, you're REALLY lucky to begin with.

Citizen Feud
it's called the Print Screen Button on the keyboard. hit that up and post the screen shot, else NO WAY it's a 72!

I haven't even seen anything better than class 15 yet... and that's only with bonuses. Jeez... well it IS a gigantic galaxy so I'm hoping some other sectors will have more to offer.

The class 72 had to have been a bug of some sort, simply because it was the Iconian homeworld (fixed starting PQ of 15, no colonization events possible since it's a homeworld). The Iconians would have had to get the PQ douler event multiple times to get it as high as it was, and it's statistically improbable to even get it more than once in several games, let alone one.

I've had *many* 26s in just a few games (playing with 1 point in Luck ).
Wonder what putting all points into Luck would do..

Not only is a class 72 planet possible, retailers on those planets had the game in stock on the 21st of february!

yeah well he sent his save game to Star Dock so we'll all know eventually what the issue is. Is a PQ 72 possible or was it a bug. I personally think bug as I have had some legit 36 planets and if I hit the Evil bonus.. WHAM.. 72! would it have 72 tiles? No, so the game may have a small bug that doubles the PQ listing but not the actual PQ.

I'd love to have a planet with PQ72.

Feud, if it's not too much to ask, could you zip/rar the savegame and post it on rapidshare or something pretty please?

Ok everyone, here it is. I'm not too good with this whole link thing, so i don't know which one will work. The planet is located int he top right of the screen, "New Iconia" I think is the name.

BTW, I offered to send it to Stardock, but as of yet they have not contacted me back. The offer is still ont he table, but now they can just get it from the link.
