Should I wait???

I have noticed quite a few "bug" reports and a number of "needs improvement" threads in the forums.
I"m curious as to whether I should wait a while to allow the devs to come up with an update or two before buying the game.
Any comments or suggestions??
Thanks very much...

No. The game is great as it is. All the "bugs" are minor and the improvements are just that. GalCiv2 isn't perfect true, but it's as close as you can come. I wouldn't wait a minute.

Seconded, there are plenty of little niggles, but this isn't a game like X3 or boiling point, the Guys and Gals at Stardock HQ allways come up with the goods and don't ship rubbish.

I expect most of the niggles will be fixed withinn weeks!

I did notice some bugs, but I so much like the game that I actually find time to go and post about them on this forums, because I want to help Stardoc to make this game even better.

The majority of people who are playing aren't noticing bugs or having problems - they're busy playing. I've had some issues but overall the game is fun and worth getting immediately.

The other thing is that a lot of us complain because we know Stardock listens, usually responds, and takes care of their code and customers.

I haven't noticed any bugs yet. Also when you buy now you could possibly still get the extra downloadable goodies.

Get it now! The condition it's in now is better than some games ever ended up even with post release patches.

It ain't perfect, but what is?

I don't see any reason to wait. I think it is quite playable and fun 'out of the box'. Plus they already have a patch for some of the worst little problems planned for tomorrow. The only problem I've seen is one of my autosave files got corrupted (somehow) but I was trying to develop time travel and prevent an invasion, so its my own fault for tampering with Space-Time.

There may be a few little bugs, but that is to be expected. So far what I have seen out there is nothing to get too excited about. Also in some cases, what some people say "needs improvement" is simply a matter of personal taste. In fact some of the 'bugs' aren't, they are simply design decisions that the poster didn't agree with. AND in some cases the 'bug' is something working as designed, the poster simply didn't understand the how or why.

So, if you're looking for the game that MOO3 should have been (now there was a pile of poo that shouldn't have been made or purchased by anyone), then you've got it with GalCiv II!

(Psst! When do I get paid?)

Kidding! Kidding! I'm just another shmoe, and so far I'm happy with the game.

The majority of bugs I see are of the same small ones (ship building is tempremental, minor UI problems), nothing that in the least makes it unplayable for me. I'll agree with Frogboy's post about this earlier - the majority of the "big bugs" posted are PEBKAC errors. Being part time developer, part time support, and helping admin a forum in my spare time, I know all about how it goes.

Yes there are some small issues, but b the activity of the Stardock guys in the forum here I have full faith they'll be fixed soon enough, and are only minor annoyances until then. More than happy.

Get it. Get it NOW! Or maybe not, since you won't sleep, eat, or talk to your family for at least 24 hours after it arrives.

Really, the game is fine. The whining is inevitable but there's 50 sleepless people having a great time for every complaint. Maybe more.

Get the DL. Looks like the box stores haven't even stocked it yet.

only thing that bothers me a bit is the upgrading of ships and that there is no way to re-enable obsolete designs in the shipyard while outside the shipyard (direct build on map) I can still build every ship I ever designed even if they are obsolete or have been replaced (the list gets a lil long there). ^^

I think all of that will be fixed by the end of this week. and nevertheless I really enjoy the game.

Agreed. Judging the quality of the game strictly by what you see in the forums would be like going to your favorite electronics store, walking in to the complaint (customer service) department, and judging everything strictly by what you see there. Most of the people with working equipment are at home playing with it.

There are some minorly annoying issues, like the bug affecting updating ship designs, but the devs have already said that they expect the first update to come out tomorrow or early next week.

Stardock is very good at updating their games immediately after release. I wouldn't be surprized if we see at least two updates before the end of the month, and another one next month. These people are fanatical. I reported a bug to Brad last night that made one of my saved games unplayable, and he tore into it and figured out the problem that same night.

Since the small bugs and anoyances are in no way game stoppers I'd recomend a purchase right away.

Yep , you can get it now.
There are a lot of small bugs but there are not "blocking" anything and the game is fun to play .
