Alt tab friendly?

So perhaps a seemingly random question, but is the game alt-tab friendly? I have a bit of a chat addiction and like to keep chatting with people even as I play games.

Anyways I remember with the basic version of civ 4, sometimes I would alt tab back in and the UI wouldn't load, prompting me to have to close the game with task manager and start it back up, something that can take a few minutes and just wasn't fun.

I know to a certain extent this is somewhat dependent on my system, but I have seen some games that just plain crash, some that mess up, and others that just don't. Soooo uh which is it?

/Really looking foward to release!

I'd play it in a window then if that's the case.  GalCiv II lets you alt-tab out but it can take awhile to get back in due to regenerating the models (all sorts of tricks used to save RAM).

But if you run it in a window, no problem.  I run in a window 99% of the time.

I just run it in a window the same size as my desktop resolution. I can switch flawlessly in and out.

I've yet to play any meaningful time in full-screen mode.

Tabbing works great in the early game, but once you and everyone else expands it takes a while to get back in the game. A long while.

So, I ended up playing it in windowed mode, and it works like a charm.

Create a shortcut with a w parameter after it to run in a window: galciv2.exe w

Thanks for the response, and glad I asked. I didn't know about the command for a window.

When I make a shortcut and use w or -w after the galciv2.exe file name, it's not loading up in Windowed mode. I do have the temporary serial number while waiting for the pre-ordered retail box to arrive if that makes a difference. Can anyone help me?
