Excellent post. I agree with everything, save for seeing the enemies' destination (as was mentioned earlier) For me, the worst part about the UI are all the squares that you can't travel on without any indication as to why. It confused me greatly when I first started playing (and frustrates me still). I thought that turning on the grid would help by outlining only traversable squares, but no such luck.
