You guys are quick! Thanks for the detailed replies.
Don't send them one by one.
When I used to play board games with friends we had a phrase for when one of us played a bone-headed move: "I am such a f***ing moron." Yes, I was sending transports in one by one. Doh! "I am such a..." You get the idea ;) .
It seems to me that after the list of completed constructions appear, you go directly to the planet screen -- at least that's my experience
Just thought I'd say I'm hooked. I bought GalCiv about two weeks ago, still in my first game. Mostly over the learning curve hump, but I still have no clue really about strategy. At least I seem to have mastered the interface. With two kids I have little time to play, maybe an hour late at night, but gawd almighty its hard to turn off the computer -- just one more turn!!!. Hats off to Stardock. And thanks to several people on the Stardock GalCiv chat channel who helped me with numerous que
You might find this interesting: Link
Thanks so much! Exactly what I was looking for :D . Is Brad Wardell "Frogboy"?
Actually I did go to their main site first before posting and saw plenty about their other products, but nothing about WHO they are. Maybe bios are there and I'm not seeing it. Just curious. I always admire independent software developers, especially for games, who can make it on their own.
Newb here, just curious about who created this amazing game. I get the sense its just one or two people. Is this their first game? Any links to interviews they've done?
Out of cash and also could be that your domestic screen you have your social or military production set to zero, if you military is set to zero you cannot build ships, if your social is set to zero you cannot build anything in the planet (civilian structures or wonders)
Actually, I'm at the part of your walkthrough that has social production at 100%. So I'm probably just cash-starved at the moment. The problem was on Earth, where I was trying to build a wonder. I'll lo
I just want to echo what Bam Bam says about the succession games. We who participate in the SGs are very much aware of the (unseen) audience and try to provide as detailed descriptions as possible of what we're doing and why.
Yes, I plan to make reading the succession games my next "tutorial." (I hope to read through them during downtime at work, since I can't actually play here (:( ) So many thanks to those who take the time to write those detailed description
You may need to register to access Mayito's walkthrough. The walkthrough is found Link Here is what he says:
Last night I started my first real game (as opposed to just poking around the interface) and Mayito's brief walkthrough was immensely helpful. It served as a basic roadmap to get me started; without it I'd probably have just stared at the screen at times wondering what to do next. Playing on a tiny map at cakewalk level, I began to feel like I was unders
Thanks Theoden for posting the entire walkthrough here, since the link does require registration (not that there's anything wrong with that ;) ). What is the Senate Halls? "A neutral meeting ground" for all GalCiv empires?
Also, is there a link to a press release or announcement about the expansion pack? Just curious as to what is expected in it (MP? )
Nevermind, I found it. It looks awesome. [Message Edited]
I sacrifice sleep for gaming.
Sleep? Sorry, not familiar with that term.
Welcome to GalCiv--the game is great and this community is also great!
Part of my interest in the game is that this community is still going very strong many months after its release. That proves the game has staying power.
The cool thing about the game is you can play a couple of turns, save, and comeback to it...
This is exa
Still if you are interested in the small walkthru come to the link I provide above and visit us.
I went to the link but found only Senate Halls login. I went to the forum index and looked in each sub-forum. I don't see the walkthru >:( . Is the link right?
Try reading through this LinkIt is the best walk through I have seen.Welcome - say good-bye to your free time
Thanks for the link to the walkthrough; I will read through it. Its now past 11pm, I need to get to bed, but I installed the game, patched it, and and going to give it a quick try. Free time? Hah. I have a 3-year old and a 4-month old, so my free time is maybe an hour a night after everyone has gone to bed. Oh well. Glad to be here, tho, I'
Many thanks for the prompt and detailed replies!
Hello, I just bought GalCiv a few hours ago ($19.99 at my local Gamestop store) after seeing it listed in the top 10 games of 2003 in Computer Games magazine. That's a great honor for a small publisher, I'd imagine. They say, in part, "it gets better the more you play. Its an understated, thoughtful game that is highly replayable and continually challenging." I'm looking forward to delving in. I apologize if the answers to these questions could be found by searching, but I h
