@basj I just downloaded Fences trial version and my first impression is that it's a terrific way of organizing desktop. It has also a lot of potential for creating workspaces on the desktop. Fences appears to be the only tool with a "Details" view on folder contents. It would be very convenient to have this capability also on regular desktop fences, as in my work a lot of file names add "date-topic" before the interesting part of the file name.
