Thanks for the reply Neil. I put Stardock on my machine a long long time ago, and so Hibernate may well have been switched off in the OS for a long time too.

Stardock - I followed your instructions as so. 1. Uninstall StarDock10 2. Reboot 3. Purge 4. Reboot 3. Install v1.8 4. Reboot No Hibernate option!! What I had to do in addition was to go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\System Settings and switch the hibernate option back on too, not forgetting to hit save too.
