OK, thank you. That's the answer then. I re-created the normal fences so that they were activated last and now they install on top of the background fence. It's great. I will never have to activate the background fence, so all is well.

I put one fence on the desktop which is coloured but in which I place no icons. I then lay my normal fences on top of this background fence. The effect is a beautiful bordered fence. When I start the pc, the background fence installs on top of the normal fences and thus the normal fences are obscured. Is there a way to get the background fence to install first?
