Thanks Basj, That bottom setting solved all the issues. Can't imagne why it took so long to figure that out for me? But I am glad to have it all solved. I set the time to 30 seconds rather than to 1, I tried to checkmark the "Show icons at startup" setting, but it is greyed out. I am not seeing a way for me to mark this post as answered. I did give you "karma". [e digicons][/e] David

Okay, just noticed something else annoying. When I am using a program like Word or Outlook (obviously full screen), while my Desktop has the Fences hidden (double clicked on the desktop to hide them), the best way that I know to get back to the Desktop to start another program (let's say Excel) is to press Windows + d. I have been using this ever since the the Desktop disappeared from the Alt Tab icons (years ago), and the "button" at the right edge of the taskbar (to switch to the desktop) b
sdRohan No, you were not recreating my problem correctly, because you placed the icon you wanted to except for the "hide" function directly on the Desktop, rather than in a fence. See my posts just before this one. I basically want what I want, but for some reason I can't have that. I am not even 100% sure whether I used to have it and now no longer do, or i
Okay, that has solved the problem, though I have been using my method for years, and do not recall having this problem before (the fences did not "unhide" when I double clicked on an icon in a hidden fence). It does bother me, that when my fences are unhidden, I don't get a clean lined up grouping of icons inside and outside of the fences. Outlook 2016 is not in line with OneNote 2016 (in the Fence). Not vertically for the top of the screen, not horizontally anywhere. "No
Is there a way to edit a previous post (like if I find a typo, or something that needs clarifying)? Well, who knew that your mouse has to be IN the message you want to edit before the edit icon shows up in the bar under the message? I looked everywhere for this option with my eyes, not with my mouse. Silly me! My version of Win10 is Dutch and I have installed Fences in Dutch too. That is why my terminology may not always re
Screenshot of winver.exe with Windows version and build: 2. I hide my fences (so I can see my background image on the Windows desktop). As I said, some icons are excepted from the hiding, most notably Office apps. 3. Not sure what value there is to giving you a screen shot of what happens when I double click on an excepted icon when
I am using a registered version of Fences 3.09. I generally turn off my fences so I can see my background. I have excepted a few icons of frequently used programs, like most of the Office apps. When I double click on any of those "excepted icons" to start e.g. Word, Fences sees that as a double click and unrolls all the fences. I seem to recall that this did not happen in previous versions. I have re-installed Fences on a new computer, so maybe I am just missing a setting. I DO want a
I have had to reinstall Windows 10. I have an image of my C partition, which includes my previous installation of Fences. Unfortunately, I could not put that image back, but I CAN get into it and pull out indifidual files or directories and put them back (or some place else). Rather than having to recreate my fences, it would be great if I could just copy some kind of "ini" file or whatever, that will put back my fences for me. What would be really great, is all my icons would
So I like Fences because I can actually use my desktop, see a nice background image but still easily activeate my icons. Basically what Fences is for. However on Windows 10 Dutch (though I assume this is not unique to my Dutch version), when I use Ctrl d to return to the desktop, the "hide fences" (other than the excluded from quick hide icons) feature is turned off (so all the fences are visisble again). Since MS removed the desktop from the ALT TAB cycle AND removed the "button" on
