I experienced a minidump playing as the Federation within the first minute of playing a new game after installing the mod for diplomacy. I had previously downloaded the mod for entrenchment and it worked reasonably well. I had built a Connie and I clicked on it, I had zoomed out to send it to another system and I think that's where I experienced the minidump. Hope you guys release a patch soon because I really like this mod and I want to play it for diplomacy! :)</p

How do I do that?
Out of curiosity, can repair modules be fitted in Starbases like in Galciv 1? The manual implies this is the case, but I don't think I've ever noticed the existence of repair modules. If they don't exist, can it be modded into the game? I think repair modules would make a healthy addition to the game but whatever.
What about cloaking devices? Make it so that it works best for single ships rather than fleets (a cloak gives off distortion so sharp eyes could see a cloaked ship, but the distortion would be more obvious if the fleet is cloaked). It would give greater strategic options, but it would also make investing in sensor technology paramount (as it acts as the counter to cloaking - if your sensors are much more advanced they can see through the cloak).
I would endorse the ships from Starfleet Command. Also, the races from there as well. (Federation, Klingons, Romulans, Gorn, etc)
Why is there a B5 ship - the Hyperion - a part of this Star Trek mod? I also echo the sentiments of the above poster who said there should be Gorn and Tholians instead of Vulcans and Andorians (who are supposed to be members of the Federation).
Oh, should have mentioned: she's interested in playing the Elf.
Kevin, I've told a friend of mine about the game, and she's interested in playing. As in definitely interested. I'll give her your email, and send you hers. Cool? Cheers, Chris.
I might as well start the introductions. I am definitely playing (if Kevin will have me :D ). I haven't come up with a character yet, but I will. Now, my name's Chris Szitovszky. Stofsk is just a shortened version of my surname (and it can use it). I live in Aus and I'm 21. I'm a fan of LOTR (and Galciv, though this goes without saying). Who else is playing?
Celeborne, I'm interested. My experience has only included D&D, I'm afraid. So I don't know the rules to LOTR at all. Anyhoo, if you need an extra player then let me know at my email: stofsk@hotmail.com Will massive familiarity with LOTR be required, or will one be able to 'wing it' if they've only watched the movies? (for the record, I have read the books - but this was a long time ago)
Frogboy, I agree with you that money isn't the be-all or end-all when determining a civilisation's ability to protect its interests. I think having logistics in the game would be a GOOD thing. It just seemed to me that we already had similiar things in it, such as maintenance - which I'll concede I'm wrong about - but also starbases. Why can't the latter play a bigger role in terms of the logistics strength of your empire? This would enhance their strategic usefulness. <br
Just a minor nitpick... Fleets (and the navies they belong to) are strategic weapons, not really tactical. Therefore, the absence of tactical emphasis in Galciv is a bonus rather than a detriment. However, there are more factors to consider... Generally, the bigger fleet always wins, assuming technological and performance parity. If one side has a new technology/doctrine, or is simply better trained then their odds are greatly enhanced. However, as in the case
>And since you seem to be a MOO3 fanboy, why don't you >stop bothering us "bitter" Galciv players and go to >the flamefest MOO3 forums? Wow, feel the love on this forum... In the words of an immortal pacifist who probably got shot 5 secs after saying this, "Can't we all just get along?" *Bang!* There goes the neighbourhood...
Hey, I asked the same thing. No-one really gave an answer. Cheers, Stofsk
I want to customise the music files for GalCiv, but I want to know which file gets played when. The Event Music folder is pretty easy to figure out, except for one file: MW Does anyone know when this gets played? As for the main Music folder... Space00 is the music that plays when you're on your first turn. But when do the other Spacexx files start to play? SPY: I guess plays when you have an espionage message. THINKING: I don't know when this one pla
Interesting views, from everyone. Personally, I like to finish what I start - win or lose, I want it to happen. "...it is hard to lose focus when you are in a war. " Ah, no, it is EASY to lose focus when you are in war. Especially if you don't have the will to fight it, or the intelligence to win it. (look at history, recent or ancient) My most recent game had me at war with 3 majors and 1 minor. I didn't want to fight the war, but was pressured into it by my "Allies." No w
Can anyone teach me how to mod the ship files like the red-coloured Drengin ships?
What?! You are ALWAYS penalised for being good, and ALWAYS rewarded for being evil? Doesn't this seem wrong to anyone? I find the moral stance here to be dubious. Is this a bug? Or was it intended by the programmers? Does this relate to a specific, PQ effect - or to all of them? Or have I misunderstood your point? Cheers, Stofsk
Can you link certain events, so that a chain can occur? Or is this beyond the limits of the program? Take the event "Drengin Exile" You've got three choices: refuse him (good), accept him (neutral) or promote him (evil). If you chose the good option, in a couple of turns it comes back to bite you (you know the saying, better the devil you know than the devil you don't...). One of the other civs (maybe even a minor) get him and become a fantastic military power, threate
What happened to all those articles that explained the back story to the game? Will we ever see the encyclopedia updated?
Hello, everyone. My question relates to the feeling of apathy that sets in after a couple of hours of playing... ie, you don't care what's going on in the greater scheme of things, you just want the game to end so you keep on sending ships here and there - unfortunately, this inevitably results in you neglecting the strategic concerns for your empire. I think this is particularly relevant to games on Large galaxies and above, but the one I'm most interested in is gigantic size
"Ralegh - I didn't know Stofsk could hijack his own thread!" Yeah, neither did I. ;) Thanks, everyone, for the views/ideas. Def Zep: Is it worth colonising anything under PQ15? You'd already have morale problems with PQ15+, it just seems to me to be a waste. Unless, you needed a forward base towards a rival sector... but even here, wouldn't starbases be a better alternative? (for the ship repair/attack/defence/trade/culture etc...) Or did you mean, as I thin
Do Attack/Defence ratings combine with the number of ships you put into a fleet? Or does each ship fire their weapons one by one, and what determines the firing order? Can someone tell me how fleets work, please? Is there any benefit to having them at all? Cheers, Stofsk
Excellent. Thanks MadMaz (any relation to Mad Max? Yeah, I'm an aussie... had to ask, your nickname is so similar) Thanks, Stofsk
