If we did a MOM2 it would be in conjunction with Atari who currently owns the rights. But doing such a game will be quite expensive. More expensive than a GalCiv type game. So it's not known how many people would buy the game once it came out and so there's an element of risk involved. We would want to get at least 5k pre-orders.
I, too, would be worried about Atari's involvement. Stardock has been a lone beacon of sanity in a messy, we-publish-screwed-up-

The point is that the AI isn't dumb. The Torians know that it's pretty much you and them in the running, and so have little to no desire to be your friend, because it's left to you two. In other words, no amount of bribery is going to cut it. The time I was in a similar situation (with the Dregin, who had me well cornered, so I played the "nice Dregin, here's a tech, go kill for me," which went great until they did kill off all the other majors). I went porous, dumping everything into t
It was Deep Space 9 after all, not Deep Space 465
With emphasis on the "Deep," which is closer to my problem with the 1.19 mod. Building DS9 should be a difficult endeavor. Building the international space station shouldn't be as hard. I do like the reasoning behind it and my core woes might be lessened with a drastic reduction in the price of constructors. But it seems to me that if the goals were to cut down on the culture warriors, there's a lot of collateral

Okay, new minor style made me revise my prime stratagies. No biggie, though a bit of a shock at first. My problem with the way they are now has become more a matter of theory than of gameplay. See, now minors are majors who can't win. There are other differences natch, but when push comes to shove, it just means there's competitors who can run the race but are destined to fail. They can shove as far or as fast as one of the Council memembers, but sooner or later it's going to go down. T

Vincible: Two words: Democratic Lithovores. None dare opposse my rock-eating freedom lovers. I tend to push forward on the governments, as long as I think I've the economy and morale to do so. It's like anything else in this game. I don't mind the lack of texture so much. I don't mind the government thing being an absolute deal maker/breaker, or rather I prefer it this way, where it's not so powerful. See, that's my thing in the MOO2 race pick notion - in GalCiv I can't

Oh yes, this has been my latest annoyance. The new major minor status has really befuddled my tactics. In the long run it's a better off thing for human players, but in the short run it can really screw up an early game, or has forced me to to go a-waring a lot sooner than I'd like. There's also the matter that not everyone is on the big board, so it's harder to keep track of the bouncing balls. Now I understand why they made the change, before they were a little too pushovery, but I wo

Something that someone's gotten together that might interest those of a GalCiv ilk: Fellow has put together a redo of the old BBS Trade Wars game, now redubbed Galatic Wars. Free, a nice alternate way to pass some time, could certainly use a few more players and logs the nostalgia points. Link's below. http://24.162.51.111/gw_1/ ~SDC~

Starbases get special double secret cloaking devices so that even I can't see they're there. Happens after an upgrade, sometimes, but once it happens to one it starts happening more and more frequently (or so it seems) ~SDC~

Hm, I always presumed that the AI would check your morality rating, not just the raw lines, so that if you were good but untrustworthy they would treat you accordingly. I think you answer yourself in this question:
I mean come on, how can any civilization call itself 'good' when it trades for and uses "artifical slaves" and "Life force whatever I forgot the name but its really really evil"?
With this comment:
as opposed to being neutral o

Be concerned, but don't be mortified. It means that you need to play catch up on influence, but that's never a super-critical thing, at least until you start hearing the warning bells about such-and-such planet making overtures to antother side. On the other hand, it is something you're falling behind in, so it's best to take action. But as to what I see as your root question, no, it's not a gamebreaker, worry about only incednetally, especially since there are so many ways to make the

Yeah, second, it's a completely different model for how a game is put out. What makes the difference? The Devs make a good point of listening, at least seem that they are. Players feel that they're interested in making a game as best as possible, letting it develop naturally. This is different. I like this. ~SDC~

Random list of possibles: 1) I like the territorial integrety idea. Perhaps a charge for putting non-trade ships into a controled sector? Perhaps keep it a UP thing? 2) Like scalible random events and UP meetings. 3) Neutral techs sound good. However I'd put in a different sort of suggestion for the Neutral victory, make it more Switzerland than quiet alliance. Have to avoid all war or alliance for X many number of years, while having an X ranked military.

Here's one I'm not sure of, with 2.049: The empire is evil. The only two forces left on the map are the Archieans and the Torians, both Neutral. I have an alliance with the Archieans, and the Torians and the Archieans have an alliance. At this point, aiming for alliance victory because I've not got there before and it seems possible, as long as I don't trigger a cultural one. Ironically, named empire "alliance." Try my best, I can't get the Torians to swing round to
