Also shown in this thread and others - changing to fleet combat would turn this into a different game, like a Sins of a Solar Empire.
It wont change it. Check Starsector first before going to such hasty conclusions. Compare it with Solar Empire doesnt make any sense. It has completely different RTS combat. I didnt talk about RTS combat.

Being a strategy game, the dialogs you have with other species are motivated by making deals and treaties, as opposed to the plot-driven conversations from Star Control, but I think from an artistic perspective, this is definitely a great example of how to present the aliens in Star Control. Hand drawn animation, not 3D models!
Nice video. [e digicons]|-)[/e] I agree with the idea ab
We definitely have the arcade style combat in there.
I see but please, guys, DONT keep the original SC combat. We have 2015 now, we are not in "prehistoric" time with strong hardware limitations. So ENHANCE the combat, make it more closer to Starsector. That way it will be pretty close to original + improvement. And I think there will be many ppl who would prefer to see more engaging fleet combat than forced stage

Challenge #1: IS Star Control Star Control without the Spathi? Yes, it is. BUT... it should feel like PART OF THE SAME UNIVERSE. And you will lose a lot without original races. So think about things that will help with that feeling. Regarding new races - create some (not all) new races AS ANCESTORS of Spathi or other famous races . Think about them as a races with some physical and cultural similarities (and differencies) which will evolve into Spathi or other

Its basically good. Small feedback: - in 1:03 he shouts but mouth is barely open which is wrong - he should move a little with the body and neck+head (and hands) but you probably know that very well - I hope and assume that most aliens will have somewhat distorted voices and not clear human voice [e digicons]|-)[/e]
The Founder's program lets people get access to the alpha game and the final game (of course). But prior to the alpha, we want to be able to talk to players about ideas, concepts and other topics not ready for public consumption.
I did a little bit of modding in the past and there are many areas that can be enhanced in SC so Im interested. But how much of our freetime will be required? Are there o
For me the core of Star Control was the exploration and dealing with weird aliens and so on. The Combat was the weakest element that felt counter to the whole thing to me. You have this ragtag fleet of various races ships... and then you duel them one at a time? Just seems so out of place to me. I never liked the 1v1 melee battles. I'd much rather be able to control all my ships at once. :EDIT: That doesn't me

Hello, guys. SC is very unique game and Im very interested in new installment.
Keep mining gameplay fresh by having different types of subtasks or missions where you have to accomplish something before you can collect a certain resource. Similar to what you had to do on the surface of Spathiwa with the Evil Ones. Perhaps defeating a group of primitive lifeforms guarding something on the surface of certain worlds, or having to locate secret cav
