Not sure. I already have too many fences and takes a while to get them all setup. Install and reinstall, not something I want to do right now. I might look at getting Fences 5 month end, but not sure if I need it as 4 is doing what I need right now.

OK, so just a heads up. I did a full format / reinstall of Win 11 24H2. Reinstalled Fences 4 and loaded the last backup, even though it was white as above. All restored 100%, so not sure why the image is white, but the restore still works perfect. Looking at it right now and the current Daily snapshot is still white. So much be something in the new Win version that's causing it.
Just to add to this post, I'm getting the same issue also with the official 24H2 which was released a few days ago and my machine automatically updated to. But I am still using Fences 4 as V5 is out of my budget range right now... Fences is also all updated as I have just checked again. Now I need to do a reinstall of my machine and my current Fences are not the same or even backed up correctly... So how do I proceed with this? <img src="https://cdn
Right click the desktop..... Then click on "Show More Options" at the bottom of the menu... Then click "Configure Fences"... Then, on the Home page, scroll to the bottom and clcik the tick where it says Enable Fences.... This will then "disable" it. Then follow the rest of the instructions above. Hope this makes it a bit more clear...
Had the same issue, but mine is fixed now. This is what I did and I don't understand it either, but worth a try before wiping everything... 1) Once booted into Windows, right click and disable Fences. 2) Open Task Manager (right click on Start Icon), then select the Startup Tab and Disable the 2 Fences entries there. 3) Restart your system I ran mine like this for a while thinking it was a Fences issue, and everything worked perfectly except for the Fen
Software cannot "damage" and physical hard drive to the extent where it needs replacing. This is impossible. Only something physical on the drive can do this. Software can only harm other software and render the drive contents as bad. This is easily fixed by a format and if it's really important software, then you can format and restore from a backup. A closer look to the .bat file above shows that it is just removing a few Startdock and Fences registry entries
Will I lose my current Fences setup?
Upgraded to the official version of Windows 11 2 days ago and Fences kep on crashing the desktop and explorer. I managed to disable fences and everything works 100%. As soon as I enable fences again, desktop and explorer crashes. Any advice to get it all going again? Really want to get my fences back up and running.
Looks like MS did a kind of "pre-upgrade" in Windows 10 to get machines ready for Win 11. I upgraded to Win 11 yesterday and Desktop constantly crashes untill Fences is disabled. Then everything works fine. Might be that same issue in Win 10, but cannot confirm it now, so try disabling Fences and see if everything runs fine. If that works, then the Stardock team best get going with the updates... And if the Stardock team read this, I am more than wil
WOW, this is still going.... If memory serves me right, I think it had something to do with Admin rights on the Fences.exe file. If you remove the "Run as Admin" option, it should work. For some or other reason Win 10 has issues running programs set to run as Admin. Let me know if this helps....
Well, if you have a solution ,then please help... Too much info on this forum to put into tickets and also many tickets for this issue have been raised, yet we still haven't got a proper solution yet... So at this stage, any help is good help. [e digicons]O:)[/e]
Agreed, didn't work for me either.... Waiting for new Windows 10 build, might be resolved then...
Interesting solution to run as service... Fixed this problem a while back by just adding fences.exe to startup. I have now picked up the same issue again with Windows 10 preview build 10565... Will try the above and see if it solves it.
Nope... Still not working for me. Windows 8.1 Update 1 Pro. Fences 2.12
Thanks for the help Gargabee . I have sent the mail through with the complete file attached. Please let us know if you find a solution to the problem ASAP. Thanks again.
No problems.... I ran the support thing. Are there any particular files in there that you guys need? Sorry, but just not sure why you need to every directory and file structure that is on my PC... Just a bit too much personal stuff for me to be sending out to you guys. If you let me know which files you need in particular, I will gladly send them along.
But it is EVERY user with Windows 8 or higher, not just us! Haven't you guys been reading your own forums and MANY other forums about this issue? Surely hundreds of people have already sent you stuff.... Am I wrong? I will send the info, but not going to open tickets. Is there an email I can send the file to?
So sad this because it is a wonderful product and cost me a fortune to buy it! Come on StarDock?!?!?! What's going on here?
Hi guys, Any progress on getting this issue sorted yet? Very annoying every time to right click at EVERY boot up! Any new BETA's or something we can try yet?

I can start apps from the the start bar and use them, but desktop icons will only shw up when I right-click on the desktop. I don't have any other stardock products installed, only Fences. Please help guys as this is really annoying every t
