Yeah I figured it out thanks, I had a mod that makes homeworlds larger and it was for the base game, didn't have the new homeworlds in there so with it activated the homeworlds for the new empires weren't showing up. Feel really intelligent right about now...

So with the new update totally destroying the base game, unless you mod it to remove the fun effects of the "balance changes", I decided to go ahead and take the step and get Crusade. I just started my first game, Gigantic Universe, 14 players, and the very first turn 5 empires get totally destroyed. I have restarted about 7-8 times now and it happens every time. Am I setting something up wrong or does this happen randomly and I just happened to get it repeatedly? Edit: Doing some mor
That's only if you own Crusade, which I don't. They made the mining update apply to the base game but not the city update.
The "balance" changes on mining have made it so you can't build a city until about 50-60 turns in, if you're lucky enough to pick up multiple resources. If you only have 1 of a resource its closer to 80-100 turns in. This all assuming that you don't totally cripple your fragile economy by building 15 different starbases in order to gather the resources in the first place and that you don't have any reasons at all to spend those resources on anything else, like god forbid weapons and armor.
