I already tried uninstall/reinstall but no luck. Only 2 possible but unlikely explanations occur to me. One is that I'm running the Windows Classic rather than XP style; the other is that before I opened a Stardock account, I was running the trial version of WindowFX which has very limited options. Could either of those 2 cause this behavior?

Seabass, I'm running FX3.1 (latest version) and XP SP-2.

Curious thing: whenever I try to apply any effect in WindowFX, it responds with an "effect not supported" message but applies the effect anyway. Anyone know what might be causing this?
