It ONLY worries people if it is likely to impact upon THEM within their life-span.
There've been many people in the past who had visions that stretched a thousand years and they were able to inspire lots of people. Of course those were dictators like Hitler and Ceasar, but still... it's possible that people get inspired by something that is greater than themselves. I wouldn't underestimate the power of

This is not really true. In the cold war, many movies were about nuclear armageddon. People cared about that and ultimately, the cold war ended. Nobody had ever seen a nuclear missile, but they all knew they existed (and they still exist), enough to sterilize the world many times over. It was madness and it ended. Partly because the USSR collapsed, partly because people wanted it to end. The climate crisis is similar in scope and nature.

Sure.......... then why are doomsday movies so popular nowadays? People care, even if it's at the most basic level. They get the message from TV, it's just a matter of getting it across in a way that appeals to them. The following might be a simple enough.... 1. if we continue like we do now, the world will be full of coal plants in 100 years. Building, maintaining and heating those plants will cost us a whopping 100 trillion dollars (or something l

I suppose maybe we're worrying a bit too soon. There isn't much to fear at the moment, and I suppose it will only become a real problem after a very long time. On the other hand, why should we wait until problems become urgent? Why should we let problems accumulate and become more and more expensive to handle, while we can still take action in time? And with "in time" I don't mean today, but in the coming decades. We will have to

I would also like to add Howl's moving Castle and The Cat returns and Metropolis. And Project A-Ko. And Appleseed Ex Machina. The Resident Evil animated movies are also very good. Ice Age 4 is very nice. And don't forget the Justice League movies. "Crisis on Two Earths" and "Doom" are pretty good. And I also like the movie Planet Hulk. And Starship troopers Invasion. And Superman Unbound. And Doctor Stra

The atmosphere is a layer... what should I've called it then, "The CO2 in the atmosphere gets thicker" ??? That would make no sense. The atmosphere (and CO2) isn't really a layer anyway, I just used it in a manner of speech so that it's easier to understand. There is no real upper bound, it just fades away gradually. I will phrase it differently then: the CO2 density high up in the atmosphere will ALSO increase, just as it does near the surface. But while it won't ha

Petrossa ... the CO2 layer grows THICKER as you add more CO2. At sea level it won't make much of a difference if the density of CO2 increases. But at high altitudes, it will add extra insulation just like adding an extra blanket. As an example of an extreme end-scenario, take Venus. If you would keep adding and adding CO2 you'd end up with a very thick atmosphere with a lot of CO2. Having a very high concentration of CO2 doesn't matter, as it flattens out. But the CO2 laye

I have read on CNBC that stocks are hardly ever affected, historically. So economically it doesn't matter, statistically. Maybe this time is different. There's a more important decision to make in a few week's time: the debt ceiling needs to be increased. If that fails as well, then the economic implications will be huge. The US cannot fund the government and they cannot pay their debt oblifagions. The political structure is not really flawed, it&#3

Sometimes people think this is a complex topic, but basically it's pretty simple: if you are cold, you put a blanket over your body to keep you warm. If you add another blanket, it gets warmers. If you add yet another blanket, it will get even warmer. We are pumping a lot of CO2 into the atmosphere, which makes the CO2 layer thicker and thicker, thus capturing more heat every year. The yearly increase isn't that great, about 2 ppm / year (<a href="http://co2now.org/Cur

I use Autohotkey to map some of my keys to whatever I want. I use a pen/touch tablet by Wacom. A mouse is evil, my hand gets cramped. The pen/touch tablet is far more relaxed. I use videolan to watch movies and series on my PC.

I don't think I fit any of the above... I like the "social" profile best, but I'm not really a social person so that is confusing. I respect people, I don't like conflict, and at work I am sometimes helpful but not always... I am not really helpful in my spare time. I like to watch a movie or something, I don't like to do much else. That's pretty selfish.

No, I want you to stop complaining already and just let people post their ideas without any judgment by you or any other player! Communities are really really bad at deciding things. It's best left to the developers. This is true in general, the more people get a say, the worse the end product because there is no originality left. It goes for movies, books, open-source projects, for everything. You should place some trust in the developers, because they&#

Allright then... stop bitching already. Also take note of this: for every idea in existence, there are always people who don't like it and who have something to complain about it. If this topic will evolve like that, with ideas and then compaints, then only the most generally accepted ideas will be left. In other words: the most BORING ideas. So please. Stop complaining and just leave the judgment to the developers.
I don't think that is a necessary change. It is good the way it is now, no need to change it. You will move away hurt ships from battle, thus decreasing the DPS of your fleet, no need to further nerf damaged ships. Maybe if you could trigger a repair mechanism taking away firepower and providing more repair on your bigger ships.. but otherwise absolutely no. Try to reduce the allocatable memory of your card to 1GB and see if that helps (if that's possible). If your card really uses 3GB, it won't leave much memory for the game. After all the game runs in 32 bits and can handle 4GB at most (likely less because of windows overhead).
