Where did all the white space go? Galleries are terrible, skins are all smashed together now making them all look bad. Give a little space, let the skin breath, its a piece of art not a brick. Haven't we learned anything from deviantart? Its great that the thumbnail is larger, but this does not require sacrificing all the white space. Homepage layout is terrible. All that is really featured is the WindowBlinds, Icon Packager and CursorFX advertisements. &
Well I have too much on my plate to start on a new project, but I'll keep this in mind for the future
Cool. Anyone else who wants to take on the project (those of you who have less on their plate) feel free. I think this would be a good skin for lots of users, not just for me. Thanks to the community for your consideration.
That skin would make my eyes bleed . . but who knows.
Funny you say that because this and other audio software GUIs are typically designed for lower light rooms and longs hours of staring at the monitor. But everything is in the eye of the beholder. Zubaz, If you download the program there are several color schemes to choose from, some more appealing than others. But the shape is what I prefer. &
I am completely in love with the Ableton Live GUI. I am no skinner but if any skinners out there want a new project I would love to see a window blind using the ableton live GUI style. Check out the gui here: http://www.harmony-central.com/Newp/2002/Live-20-Session-large.gif http://www.harmony-central.com/N
Yeah, been waiting for a long time here also. Can we get an OFFICIAL response on this product. What exactly did Seabass mean by "WindowsFX update is planned for an update at this time." when that was said in October? This is a Vista thread. One might naturally assume the statement is in regards to a Vista update. But even still I am not sure as there have not been any in the past two months since this comment wa
I was just thinking of a new feature of window blinds that would be cool and probably not too difficult to implement. If we could have a setting that makes the various open windows more and more transparent/dark/light the farther back they are it would produce a 3D effect that would help some of the 3D skins look more 3D. In essence only the currently active window would be fully opaque and each new window to become active makes the previous windows shift down a notch or something
Voting doesn't work if you are not logged in. It just redirects you to the homepage. That is very confusing. I thought the system was offline.
The problem with not having live folders is that Vista uses them for default tree and listing views so that when an icon pack is installed you almost don't notice it on vista if it doesn't use live folders. So it renders the icon pack much less appealing on vista as the icons most seen (folders) are never changed to the new pack if it doesn't have live folders. Some of those great entries are only good for XP. :(
Also note that when I click on some of the team names it takes me to an edit page. This happens regardless of whether I am logged in or not. Plus I am not a member of these teams, I just wanted to see some team details.
The new color scheme is both ugly and difficult to read. What you had before was much easier on the eyes. Adobe seems to be the only company that can really implement darker interfaces with success. If you are going to go dark you should consider usability. While you will no doubt get a number of people who say the skin is cool your target audience (or the audience you are trying to expand to) likely won't appreciate it or its design. Most people just want to use the app for its utility and
Compiz equivalent, aka a major upgrade to WindowFX. Making it work on Vista would be a start.
Same problem here. Stardock, are you getting this feedback? I haven't seen any replies lately. What news can you tell us? Do you have a goal on when this will be fixed?
I am now running a later iteration apparently (3.99.146) and experiencing the same problem. Does Stardock have a goal on when this will be fixed?
I did, I uninstalled EVERY stardock application and still no luck. HOWEVER, I did just fix the problem by downloading the free trial of WindowBlinds and installing that. Somehow that restored both Vista Aero and also WB itself seems to be working. I am scared to update any of my SD software. Is there a patch for this?
By the way, I am using the 32bit version and still getting the same problem.
Same problem here for me. I did some kind of update with Impulse and when I rebooted WB crashes my system. The start button disappears and the computer hangs. What is worse, after I have removed every stardock application from my computer Vista Aero no longer works. I don't even have it as an option on my machine, I can only use windows classic now and there is no apparent way to turn aero back on as all the aero options are missing from my system! What happened? Can we get a pat
Obviously a joke but count my vote for Linux themes as serious. I would pay just like I do on windows.
Searching needs dramatic improvement, it should have options. Users should be able to select their own theme for the site (and submit themes for the site as well). Browsing needs help, the filters and navigation just don't get the job done well. You should be able to browse and filter by any combination of criteria (ie. browse within "OS" AND "Psuedo OS" with a rating of 4 or higher - BAM, just what I was looking for) In a sense you could combine the browse with the search.
The software worked ok for me, it had a few bugs, but that is not why I hated it. I think the concept is one better suited for hollywood movies, not practical computing. After 2 hours of use even the subtle themes were very distracting to me. I can finally say now after having experienced the moving wall that I would rather just watch the animation or do my work, not both.
Can't get the update: Download: C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\data\public\wb6\beta\wb6.xml 0 | Attempt: 3 | -14 The Url is invalid Result: Installation failed (12)
Yeah very weird. I had to move the pngs to a directory outside the skin folder to get them to work properly. I have no idea why this made a difference. But after moving my pngs to a totally separate location on my hard drive they would import correctly with transparency and alpha blending.
Nevermind, changing the location of the pngs fixed the problem.
When I import a png file the transparency does not carry over. How can I get the transparency to carry over? This is the basic taskbar background.
This skin looks dated. Its good, but it certainly has that "old school" feel about it. I don't think it qualifies as a premium suite. I wouldn't pay money for it because it just doesn't match up to the higher quality skins available, even the one's by treetog. Just look at the pick you have from the GUI Champs last year. And the Master Skins are much better quality as well.
One more thing, for those who think they can't afford it... Can you really equate a masterfully designed skin to a fast food meal? Cause the price is the same. The value you get for such a small price is completely reasonable. How many times do you throw down cash to eat out or see a movie... an hour or two that will never return. For the same price you can enjoy beautiful art everyday forever!
