Running MS Win 10 Pro 10.0.14393 Build 14393 and experiencing similar problems on one of my two Win desktops after one of the recent Win updates. After a reboot Fences appears to load properly..functions as expected (I have not made note of a program launch slowdown. That does not mean it isn't happening, it just hasn't been an issue for me to the degree of making a note of it. I'm a patient kind of guy!) At some point during use of the pc, and I haven't figured out what trigg

The fact that Stardock Central was phased out explains why it did not recognize any of the Stardock programs that were installed. I compared the recently upgraded/installed Fences 2 program folders to the Stardock program folders that were not uninstalling and noticed that the Fences program had an Uninstall subfolder with an uninstall.xml file whereas the others had no subfolders at all. I surmised that something had deleted the subfolders including the Uninstall file so I reinstalle

My yearly subscription for Object Desktop expired and I want to uninstall Stardock Central, Decor8 (V1.07)and ModernMix (V1.12) before installing Windows 10. When I use the Win 8 "Program and Features" facility to perform the uninstall of any of the above Stardock programs, I get the following error "Invalid uninstall control file: C:\Program Files\Stardock\??????????\Uninstall\uninstall.xml", where ???????? is ModernMix, Decor8, etc. I looked into the C:\Program Files\Stardock folder and the

I have checked the Stardock EULA which I assume applies to all Stardock products which I should have done before posting and confirmed that your interpretation of using Fences on 5 PCs is indeed accurate. Now the only thing between me and a new license for Fences is to decide whether I buy a license for version 2 now or wait until version 3 is available.

The_Gear, Just trying to understand your reply. I have Fences running on a Window 8 computer. Fences was a component of a one year subscription of Object Desktop that has expired. I assume that the subscription allowed me to access upgrades to OD components, that Fences will continue to run at the present version until I do the Win 10 upgrade and then require an updated version of Fences to maintain its functionality, which I will not be able to access because of the expired s

Deskscapes runs as a Windows 8 service and starts at Windows startup. I don't think the service is stopped and restarted when a user account is switched, or started when the logon takes place. So whatever state it is running in at startup, I assume that is the state it is running in when an administrator and non-administrator is logging in. I am not aware of any option to identify a Windows service as specifically starting in administrator mode. And if you hypothetically could, and the se

Feature request. Currently the only way to scroll through a fence/portal whose items exceed the size of the fence/portal is to click on the scroll bar and/or drag the scroll bar up or down. What would be useful is a hover over or click of a fence/portal item followed by a scroll wheel turn to scroll through the icons.

The following two features would be useful. 1. The ability to select several fences and move them to another location on the desktop, keeping their position and size relative to each other. 2. The ability to click on a fence and cause the fence and its contents to appear in front of an open window. I suspect that this is not technically possible because of the way I think Fences works. Stardock is using a way to control the positioning of the icons on the desktop with a visual

I have three user accounts on my desktop PC running Windows 8, one for each member of my family. My account is the only one that runs with Administrator permissions. When I login to my account everything works as advertised (as far as I can tell). When either of the other accounts are used. Windows 8 Explorer hangs. What happens visiually various depending on action taken. If you hover mouse over 'Show hidden icons' icon on taskbar, the Windows 8 clock is shown. If you do nothing, you

I have set Decor8 to change the desktop and start screen wallpaper periodically. The filenames of the images are meaningfull (for example, provide the location where the photo was taken and subject of the image). It would be usefull if there was an option to display the filename at the top of the image. I have used several free wallpaper changers that have this basic option.

2.09? I didn't see that coming. Version 2.09 makes more sense than calling the download 2.1 beta 1. Version 2.09 would clearly be a higher version than 2.01. From my experience, the naming convention is usually the name of the target final version/level appended with alpha and beta n to indicate progress towards final. So if 2.00 was a stable release then next stable release could be 2.01 and the alphas and betas in-between would be 2.01 alpha 1 etc and beta 1 etc. If your alpha/betas are

Purchased Object Desktop and started downloading and installing components. Got to Fences. Found stable v 2.01 and 2.1 beta 1. Confusion started! Is 2.1 beta 1 really 2.10 beta 1? Is 2.1 beta 1 a beta of the version that will replace v 2.01, in which case it should be identified as v 2.02 beta 1? Is 2.1 beta 1 really 2.01 beta 1 (ie. a beta of the current stable v 2.01), in which case it shouldn't even appear as a download? In either case, confusion continued, installing 2.1 beta
