In windows 8.1 this also happens. Before installing start8, Opaque Taskbar for Windows 8 ( http://winaero.com/comment.php?comment.news.199 ) was able do disable taskbar transparency but it has no effect when start8 is installed. So, please, either fix the feature or remove it completely so that other software can disable taskbar transparency. Thanks.
