The fix for me was to install the latest version of DirectX 9. I am even running Windows 8, but apparently the DX9 update is required.

Also setting a dream as a screensaver doesn't work

The problem I am having is when I run DeskScapes 8 on Windows 8 it has a black background. The only dream that works is Planktonic. Any help would be appreciated!
