I've also reinstalled 3 successfully. I've spent way too much time on this s/w in recent months, attempting to support problem diagnosis: I just need it to work

No, it's totally messed up, as I said - the only RMB options were the create fence ones, even without dragging a fence. Like the interface to fences is corrupted and frozen
And have. Await guidance to ensure all is removed, then I will reinstall This was a clean windows install three days ago. I spend more time diagnosing issues with this software than actually using it
They were. Rebooted anyway. Desktop a mess of fences and icons outside them, but can't move anything. LMB and RMB on Desktop show nothing but create fence options. Complete mess. I am uninstalling again
Chaps I was prompted for a Fences 4 update today. After install, Fences no longer functions: RMB on the desktop has an Enable Fences at the top, but it enables nothing. Have uninstalled and reinstalled from the My Downloads area, but same problem. What now?
FYI: I paid for an upgrade to 4 and installed the beta: No problems since
I think I did have a typo in the email address when I activated it (not with the one in the purchase - I used Paypal, but it's the same address. Can I un/reinstall and reactivate using the same address?
No, is the answer :-) Odd that you don't validate it on activation. Ho hum, I'll raise a ticket

I have upgraded to 4 and activated the initial download - but 4 is not shown on the 'My Downloads' page. What do I need to do to make it visible (and hence get access to the beta)?
That rather depends on the nature of the bug - seen plenty of software that gets away with poor coding until underlying elements, including the OS, change in a way that should cause no issues.... Is version 3 officially out of support? If not, you should be addressing any fixes required to keep it running, regardless of whose 'fault' it is. In the couple of months since I started reading this forum - because my paid-for software is broken - I've seen a lot of whataboutery reg
Releasing bug-fixes is not 'development' WIndows version is 21H2
W10. Are you saying that you won't be issuing a fix for v3 users, if the beta proves successful? That strikes me as pretty poor practice. I haven't been able to use software that I have paid for, for 2 months odd - because it is broken. And you won't even allow me to trial a fix that might get me back up and running??
I don't think so - this is the latest I see: But, given that Fences 3 is broken by this issue, I'm not sure why I would need to pay for an upgrade to receive a fix...
I don't see the beta release on the My Account page, only the Fences 3 upgrade - what am I missing?
So where can we get a copy of 3.03?
Fences v3.09.11 is the last version that avoids the problem. The latest version of Fences 3 is just as bad as v4.
So, could Stardock make this version available please?
I've just installed Fences 3, in response to reports it avoids the problem. It had the problem immediately after re-install. I also use three monitors and have been since long before the problem appeared. I did change them recently, although can't remember whether before or after seeing the problem. Two are full HD, as before, but the third has 4k resolution, whereas before was 2560x1440, hence I have enabled font scaling
I have. No more crashes. It may be that it's explorer crashing - but it looks very much like some call from DesktopDock64.dll is what's causing it to crash
I followed all the guidance at the top of this thread, unin / reinstalled and all was fine for a day. But rebooted this morning for other reasons and back to square one. I notice that the event viewer shows a whole bunch of these, starting from when I first saw the issue three days ago: Faulting application name: Explorer.EXE, version: 10.0.19041.1586, time stamp: 0xc1380384 Faulting module name: DesktopDock64.dll, version: 3.1.3.3, time stamp: 0
I've just got this for the first time too, Fences 3 on W10. Nothing's changed recently to my knowledge, personal PC, turned it off for two days whilst away (unusually), came home, switched it on, bang. Purge and reinstall achieved nothing. Top of the thread now to see what else is recommended...
I see there has been some history on this.... I have just returned home after two days away, during which time my PC was off, rarely - it probably hasn't been shut down for more than a reboot for a year or so. And I'm getting that error - clicking to re-enable just causes more of the same. Have purged, reinstalled Fences 3 from my account etc - no dice. Nothing has chanaged that I am aware of. It's a personal machine, nothing beyond Malwarebytes o
