I modified Fences to run in admin mode. I also deleted the Files and Folder fence since I don't realy need it and it just contained 2 desktop.ini files that I also deleted. Is it possible that Fences was trying to use a file the Explorer wanted since anything that was added to the desktop would be moved to a fence? Hopefiuly it won't crash again.

I have the same issue if I start the Control Panel right after a reboot. I do this to check for updates. I use XYExplorer rather than the Windows explorer but I haven't set the option to have it repalce the Windows Explorer. I will reinstall fences and try that and see if XYExplorer crashes. It is quite possible that the problems could be with Windows and not a bug in Fences. Also if we could figure out out to reproduce the problem consistantly, hopefuly it
I use disk imaging software which allows me to test any program and then restore system back to the way it was without having to deal with uninstall, registry settings and such. I use Paragon Disk Image which is a great program.

If you use your PC for surfing the Internet and email and playing music, Metro is fine. All those Aero glass effects are gone now on Windows 8 so unless a Windows 8 version of Windowblinds can bring them back, I see no reason to upgrade to Windows 8 and I have reimaged my system back to 7. I don't see any must have Windows 8 applications. If a Windows 8 version of WindowBlinds comes out, I may load it back on my system in dual boot mode but for those here thinking
Windows 8 dumped the Aero themes which was the last draw in my book. Hopefuly a Windows 8 version of WindowBlinds will have Aero glass like features but for now I reimaged my system with Windows 7. I have a MSDN sbscription so I just started using Windows 8 Pro and honestly you should probably pass on upgrading to it or at least do a dual boot with Windows 7. The Metro interface, even with Start8, still causes problems on my dual monitor system. I hope microsoft allows you to turn the metro crap off. Also Windows 8 lacks native DVD support, which is no big deal since there are better free and commericial software DVD players around but it is still annoying.
