I have that update on my system but everything is working normally. The only difference between my setup and what you described is I installed the windows update before I installed Start8. The update was installed automatically by windows on 9/11/2012. I installed Start8 for the first time on 9/21/2012. Maybe you could try uninstalling and re-installing Start8 to see if it clears the problem.

First, Start8 is great. Exactly what I am looking to use with Windows 8. My problem is that I am not able to start VMs that have a lot of RAM with Start8. I believe Start8 is reserving memory in a way that prevents windows from allocating a large continuous block to another process. This is particularly noticeable when hosting a virtual machine.
