In your APT2 mod, you've set the all the AIs to use AI 11, but I noticed in that RaceConfig.xml file that the minor races use AI 5. The default RaceConfig.xml file also does this. I only saw you mention AIs 7, 8, 10 and 11 on your webpage, so was wondering what this other AI was and how it affects the minor races developing?

Hi all. I'm also not a big fan of Steam either, however with Gal Civ 2 Ultimate edition and Sins of a Solar Empire (Trinity) not Rebellion you only need Steam to purchase the game(s) initially and obtain the Serial number . Once you do that, you can create an account at Stardock using that serial and download the very latest versions from here. As soon as you get the serial, you can uninstall Steam as it is no longer n
Hi Altarn I was looking at the change log for APT2 and noticed a minor discrepancy. It's probably just a typo in the change log rather than actually part of the mod, but it's here (Page 22/23): <span style="font-size: 15px; font-family: Arial; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: norm
As a newbie to this game what would really put me off of playing DA after experiencing TOA is the right click ability on techs when trading with other civs. I can only imagine how difficult it must have been without that ability for players new to DL and DA?
...and thanks to you also erischild. :) So, Galactic Civilations II Unlimited is now no longer available, but still have Sins: Trinity.
I have steam version. I tried to reinstal game several times but it dasn't help. I bought Galactic Civilizations II Unlimited and Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity on Steam a while back for my son. Unfortunately, he is not the least bit interested in even trying them out, so they both sit as unopened gifts in my Steam account! If anyone is interested, I am willing to sell them for $5 USD or £3 GBP each, which is currently a quarter of the asking price on Steam. Paypal gift or Faster Payment only. Not interested in 'trading&#
I think you're missing the point here, that if that .uif file did get corrupted, then you have a MAJOR problem with the PC. Most likely RAM and/or hard drive failure. Even one 'bit' of corruption will cause havoc. You need to get some file verification programs like HashCalc or MD5Sum etc. so that you have some sort of reference to go by to start with. Quickpar will also be useful, but won't give you an absolute value to
As tempting as that is, i would need an interest in steam. i just dont like it.
You and me both. I dislike intensely, the fact that any games you buy from there have no second-hand value at all and I'm unlikely to purchase any more games from Steam in the future. That aside though, Kryo stated recently in another thread that Sins of a Solar Empire 'Trinity' (not Rebell
Well, not sure if you are interested, but I tried to get my son interested in these sort of games, but never managed it. Lately, we had a big falling out anyway, so that's that. Long and short is, I have GC II Ultimate as a gift on Steam which never got sent of course. You can have it for a quarter of the asking price there if you want and you'll be all legal and what not. PM me if you want the details, but I think ultimately (no pun intended) you're going
Right... Quite a few things then. The BSODs are a very bad sign! Of course Vista is a POS anyway (IMHO), but are you at least using Service Pack 2. That will cure a lot of system crashes. edit: I see from the debug file that you are, so... Also, your sound driver is really out of date. You can get those Realtek sound drivers from Filehippo.com. Your Kalypso GC II Ultimate I think is the default DVD one from the Space Unlimited Collection, IIRC? I got t
Well, a 10 year old PC if it has the original hard drive in it could well be the problem. Good to see it has 30GB free though. I was thinking it could be down to fragmentation, especially 'pagefile' fragmentation. That very often causes weird crashes if the system drive is badly fragmented. But, if you still have 30 GB free, that's unlikely, but still worth checking. Have you done a fragmentation check at all recently? <a href="http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/wi

With my (very) limited experience of GCII, I can confirm what SCampb29 says. In my last game, the Korath were getting rampant with missile technology and big attack value fleets, so I researched point defence which as previously stated seemed to be very easy to do and ended up with some modest attack ships but with largish defense values (24) on medium hulls (some miniaturisation needed of course). Even if I couldn't mass lots of these together in fleets of their own at fi
Hi Is this what you're looking for? X:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Galactic Civilizations II - Ultimate Edition\Twilight\Data There's two folders there called; 'ShipCfg' and 'ShipTemplates'
Are you sure Mars turned radioactive, specifically? A planet spored by the Korath is supposed to turn toxic.
Yes, I was relying mainly on memory for the gist of the game, but I checked the last save of that game and Saturn and Mars were both toxic not radio-active, sorry. Also, Saturn was a class 13 planet not 16 as stated earlier.
Hi LTjim That's a great idea there! It works fine of course, thanks. So, this is indeed a bug then. After playing around, I just noticed that after focusing production on military, although ship construction time is reduced in real time in the colony manager screen, research time is again not updated on the main GUI (until you alter the sliders). DOH Why wasn't this bug patched out long ago?
When you adjust the military/social/research sliders this seems to update the research and production times as soon as you leave the finance management screen. However, if you go to the colony manager or individual colony management screens and 'focus' the colonies to research, the ETA for the current research project doesn't seem to change. I thought at first that nothing was happening, but when you click 'turn' the research ETA time then drops by
@HighWater Thank you very much for the detailed response; very helpful. Yes, I think the Korath must have had quite a high logistics value which they apparently went on increasing, as the fleets became quite large at one point. When they demolished that 'Ranger' ship in one turn it was with about 8 or 9 ships. I'd read about keeping the AIs in multiple front wars to weaken them, but in this game it was as if the other AIs were just inadvertently &#
...no, not those natty tweed golf trousers. ;) Well, this was my second ever ToA game and it didn't go very well! So, I'd appreciate some help on what I could do to improve etc. please. For some context, my first game was played at 'Normal' game difficulty as Terrans on a small galaxy with 5 AI opponents. I won this fairly easily with an Influence victory and 4500 points. Everything I intended to do was achieved readily and everything I wanted to do was d
