MKV is not supported simply because it's not a video format. The Matroska Multimedia Container is a free and open container format, a file format that can hold an unlimited number of video, audio, picture, or subtitle tracks in one file. However, you can try to rename a videoname.mkv file to videoname.mpg and if that mkv-container has a valid video file, you will be able to use it as a Descapes dream. There are a few things you could try. If you can, try to purchase from another computer or use a different internet browser than your default. Turn off any VPN if you've got that running.

Have you tried to right click the fence, click "Sort by" and uncheck "Maintain Sorting" if that is selected?

Yes! I don't know what you did, but you did it! @sdRohan: Folder portals now works on the one external drive that previously locked down Feces permanently. And I see an improvement in overall performance too. Much smoother experience. Thanks for the good work!

You can still find Winamp in lots of places, but be careful. There are a zillion hacked versions out there with trojans, viruses & malware. I THINK this one is safe, but can of course not be sure or promise anything: Winamp on Filehorse
