Experiment with different ship parts, using the ship designer to make your own unique custom ships is like playing rock, paper and scissors. It's really hit and miss with ship parts, use what looks best to get the result of ship you imagined for the race your playing

Here are some new ships I've done since my last post. First... I finally have a Sovereign Class. WOOT! This is the hardest Star Trek ship design I've done to date. No thumbs because I took screenshots while still in ship designer screen and ones that look missing are there, just very small. This will all be fixed.
I see you guys have been busy. Good Job on those Ships! Here are some new custom ships I did over the last two weeks. Cardassian Galor Class.
All these ships are awesome! Can ships only be painted blue and grey? Are they going to add the ability to paint your ships whatever colors you want?
Just as we had in GC2, we will have feature to chose our own ship colors. The feature just hasn't been added yet.
I am getting the same major lag with the ship designer when I build any ship bigger than medium scale. Ship designer slows down to a crawl and takes several minutes to respond to any user input. This only happens to me when I try to build in large or huge scale. I don't have this problem with tiny. small or medium scale ship building. This is definitely a bug in the ship designer for any ship building in large or huge scale.
I would personally like to thank the guy that started this thread.... Thank your for providing us a post for comedy relief! Without you we'd have had nothing to laugh about. Thank you for your contribution. The money you spent on the game is going to a worthy cause. We will get more toys to play with on the next update. THANK YOU THANK YOU From the bottom of our evil geek hearts... THANK YOU!!!! [e digicons]}:)[/e]
So here is my latest... took me a while because I kept breaking the game I used quite a few components. I named it the S-6 Warhawk. It's a medium ship built mid-game, and so it's only moderately equipped. But basically, I wanted a balance of speed, range, and sensors with moderate defense in all three categories and beams/mass drivers. I'm pretty pleased with the overall&

Parrott, I don't understand why your redesigning base core ships that came with the game. Your basically just making ship that are already in the game. The ship designer is so much more than that. Why not create you own custom ships and leave the base core ships alone. You not ship building ship your just redoing ships already in the game. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me to remake ships you already get in the game.
This is offered as an argument/plea for design-your-own-starport. It is named "Orbiter". It is also an attempt to do complexity through simplicity. There are 6 total parts to the ship. A Cargo starter, where the ship under construction would go, and five copies of an Altarian part. The copies were sized and nested into a set of concentric rings making a disk. Each ring was then given a set of rotations

Here are my first ships from Alpha 3 Shipyard. It took quite awhile to get used to the new interface. Having lost all the ships from the Alpha 2 Shipyard I am trying to recreate them all again. Thank God for screenshots. First ship in pictures was just messing with shipyard to get used to new interface. No fog of war??? It looks like Cylon Resurrection Ship. Looks mighty good to me!
Trump, That is some serious ship building. One of the best original designs I've seen yet here. Good Job!
Avatar... I have done that too. I had a few ships custom ships I built bass ackwards and didn't realize it until I played them on the map. Your in good company bro... LOL.
Was playing around with the designer last night and did something I don't know how. When viewing the ship in the game it always flies backwards! I like the design but can't figure out how to fix this without changing the design... Sometimes a little knowledge can be very dangerous! To sum up the Alpha 3 update after looking it over only one word to describe it comes to mind.... OUTSTANDING! I cant wait to start over again and start a new empire with bigger and BADDER Star Ships! WAY TO GO STARDOCK!!!
