Its definitely not going up in price so I got my refund and will check the forum pulse from time to time. When I read good things, it will be worth the time to fork over my cash.

The true spiritual successor of MoM will just update the textures of MOM, make it run at 1680x1050+ and add TCP-IP, PBEM, Hotseat MP (non of this hosted server bs)
I would think a lot more of SD if Brad had come right out and said "we broke the gamer's bill of rights as well as the trust of our fans" instead of "... then don't buy our games". After a weekend of trying to focus on the potential I have decided to get a refund. I hope this turns around for SD, but as this was my first experience with them I will definitely always wait for a demo from now on.
HAHAHAHA. I knew there was something about this Janusk character I didn't trust
" What I think you guys need to do over the next few months to win people back." Fire Brad, Hire Bill Roper
Spend $56 and answer definitively for yourself. I would guess you would conclude E:WoM is not a successor to MoM (you may or may not like E:WoM but its really different in many ways)
WAIT! This game is broken in many fundamental design ways, defense stacking, general AI, many techs ... i.e. you would be disappointed likely (unless you are one of the 23 % that LOVE this game accding to teh poll)
Dominions is great if you don't mind sprite based graphics (I do not). You can script your combat in Dominions, but as far as controlling it directly you cannot. I still prefer scripting and it being auto resolved than just auto resolve :) Kings Bounty is really good too. I prefer it to HOMM5 by large margin. There is no multiplayer, but SP is a lot of fun. Battle of Wesnoth is decent and free. Never played AI only friends. Any of the RPG mods for Civ 4 MoM fro
Once a game is available to purchase is a fair time to review it imo. These companies holding back reviews giving SD time are doing them a HUGE service
Quoting puffpuff, reply 25 Right now its more like Elemental: Steam roll towns. fixed
I prefer Elemental: War on Gamers
Quoting charon2112, reply 8 calling the game unplayable \= constructive criticism. We were waiting for an A+++ game and when we just got a B+, we got disapointed.
According to Metacritic, you got an 'F' ... 44/100 based on 2 professional reviewers
Hey Boyd, I see you ended up buying the game. Do you regret it (I was one of a few who tried to warn you in your thread ;D)
My copy of EWoM isn't unplayable because of crashes or bugs, its not being played because it isn't fun. Its like 4x on rails, no difference of the choices I make from one sandbox game to the next. No uniqueness of resource spawning from one random map to the next. Basically each and every game plays remarkably similar to its predecessors. Indie games should not command AAA $, especially when they aren't greatness.
This game totally does not have that feeling of "one more turn" for me. Feels like 4x on rails ... kudos for taking a soul-less genre and making it feel even more stale

Don't buy it. Unpolished, unbalanced, unfinished ... what else ya need to know?
New to Stardock games, I tried Gal Civ way back but found the atmosphere of MOO/2 more to my liking. I don't fault those who find Stardock games appealing, just as I expect to not be faulted for voicing my preferences as one size does not fit all when it comes to games! Things that I do like are: unit design (although due to balancing issues exposes AI weakness even more); tactical combat (although there are vastly different damage throughput vs letting combat a

I'm really tired of people making excuses for these companies releasing broken games at $50 a pop. "Long term support" is not a given, and small companies--like Stardock--are known for shutting down at a moment's notice. The product should be in working condition as soon as you pay for it; no waiting for the developer to get "some rest before activating and supporting that feature." Raise your expections and stop being satisfied with shotty work!
Another vote for disappointed, although friend can't be bothered to register and provide his feeback. I just got this on chat ... "Man...I can't even get reved up enough to bitch about it on forums....Its just kind of meh. Trying not to be too over dramatic, but good greef. I loved the idea of a full fledge fantasy strategy game. But WOW...could they have taken any more of the fantasy out? What a giant yawn fest."
I saw this on Amazon and definitely feel it warrants being echoed on these boards: " I'm really tired of people making excuses for these companies releasing broken games at $50 a pop. New to SD but was aware of them from GC2 praise (MOO fan). Not surprised by fan base that feel compelled to refute all criticism (valid or otherwise), but has any other SD release met this much day 1 issues? I don't know the answer to that as I have not made a habit of checking the pulse of SD on release day, but given the common denominator sentiment of fans/people who want to be fans saying "it will get better" .. I would wait for that day. This game will not always command $50 AAA-
