Hi Ray!
Rhonin_the_wizard: Will there be hot seat multiplayer? Raymond Bartos: As of yet there are no plans to implement this.
A pity.
ParagonRenegade: How many civilizations will be in the game (not counting custom races)? Raymond Bartos: Currently we have eight factions for launch: Terran, Drengin, Altarian, Thalan, Yor, Iconian, Iridium, and Krynn. Several unannounced minor factions will join them as well.

However, I'm not quite sure about Santa Yor's design. It just looks... weird. Like a spindly eight-year-old wearing the football shoulder-pads of an adult. Both the original N1 (GalCiv 1 and 2) and the Yor concept design in the Vault looked much better. With both of them you have the feel, that they could effortlessly crush your head. With Santa Yor, however, I have my doubts if he could even hold a screwdriver.
Perhaps it

I suggest you wait until there is a Steam sale and buy GC2 nad give it a try, after that decide if you want GC3. It will be a while until GC3 is released. Haven't played Endless Space so I can't make a very good comparison. But here goes, GC2 has no space lanes, combat is automatic with no input from the player. The game focuses more on managing a galactic empire and has a very good ship designer. What makes me like it is so much is the random events that make it interes
I remember using the IRC facility StarDock provided for the GalCiv test cycles in the past. Since it had a targeted use, I found it was very good and appropriate. I don't think I could stomach a facebook approach. I think it lacks the monitoring required for communicating bugs and other test results. Also, isn't facebook the one that limits you to 140 Characters? Some problems will certainly take more than that to describe an

Will the Dread Lords play some part in the game? Either campaign or sandbox? Will the Drath make an appearance in some form? How about the Xendar? How many playable civilizations are you aiming for when the game launches? Will there be hot seat multiplayer? This is probably a given, but will the civilizations have different tech trees?
And that's where that haunting thought comes in. Though I don't have anything against digital distribution, it just doesn't feel right to not have a box standing on the shelf. Something you can hold in your hands and be happy about, thinking; "Yeah, I bought this. It was a good decision.". But that's not the only thing about GalCiv 3's digital distribution that bothers me. From what I've read, you need internet and Steam and that is the most bothe

While we are having this discussion I'd like to bring up a pet peeve of mine. In GC2 they are called Major Races and Minor Races, but that is wrong, especially for the Krynn Consulate, which is mentioned to be a group of different species. Wouldn't it be better to name them something else like Major Civilizations? Also, Netro Mancer was the leader of the Altarian Republic, Elyes Mue lead the Altarian Resistance. &nbsp

I have no problem with her design, it was the implication that she was the same character from CG2 with a complete makeover that I didn't like. Thanks for correcting that.
The Drengin used genetics to create super soldiers Called the Korath.
Weren't the Dread Lords the ones who modified the Korath? Though, I guess the Drengin might have modified them before the Dread Lords intervened. <br /

I am not that big a fan of retcons, I think it would be best if you changed her to be a different character than the one in GC2. And in GC2 her name was Elyes Mue, unless this is her daughter or something. And try not to go overboard with the whole factions thing.

The problem with different endings is that for the sequel or expansion they will have to choose one ending to be canon, which will make the choices ultimately pointless. I preferred how it was in GC2, having alternate missions if you failed one.

Rather nice, a shame there is no new information for someone familiar with the games. But it's good for newcomers to the series. I take it the 2242 date means the one mentioned in the Arcean page is wrong.
the Arceans are not a major force in galactic affairs as of 2247 .
Quoting Rhonin_the_wizard, reply 4 I wholeheartedly agree. More than 10 civilizations on a map. I hated that I had to choose 2 civs that could not participate in my conquest of the galaxy a game. Same here. Did you have a tendency to pick the same two? For me one was usually the Iconians; the second varied.
Usually it was the Korath, for being just slightly different Drengins, and the Altarians,

I'd like for planets that are lured to your side by influence to be more fleshed out. I usually play by conquest using influence and once a planet joined my side there was not a lot that differentiated it from planets that were colonized by my faction. For example depending on the major species on the planet it would have some bonuses and penalties. Or when an entire civilizations switched to your side you could research their unique technologies, they could have increased costs and take

Additional Civilizations Coming soon! Tease. I'm saddened by the lack of the Dominion of Korx and the Drath Legion. So the Altarians are a republic again? I preferred the Krynn being religious zealots. I'm not bothered by the Korath Clan missing, although it would be nice if their destruction was mentioned. What does 'Major Civilizations Unaccounted For' mean, that it will not be playable or something else?
