a nice post, that i mostly agree with, however whyis it in techincal support ? i can only guess you are taking a dig at the people who clutter their systems with firewall virus etc and then complain when things dont work right. as is quite possibly the case in a fair few DG players machines, however if thats the case i take offence at the implication that if its not working its our own fault for installing more software. my demigod was working mos
Well typically any time you have a multi monitor setup your mouse travels freely between all screens. Thats expected behavior unless you use some third party program to lock the mouse cursor to a specific screen.
umm this is the 1st fullscreen game i have _ever_ played that didnt lock the mouse onto the game screen. and i have been using dual screen systems since playing QuakeWorld TF around 1998 / 99 </
most likely its asking for an outgoing port to activate the forward eg it gets an outgoing connection from some computer on port 6073 and in response forwards incoming ports 6100 - 6200 to that computers internal IP most routers will have 2 differnt ways of forwarding ports, this (dynamic) method and somewhere else there will be a permanent forwarding option, i suggest you dig around a bit more for some page that looks similar but not quite the same.
Actually this would be like transferring a savegame to that player and that can take longer than a second.
very well, ask for a community vote. a: im happy with AI taking over and dont want DC'd people coming back into game. b: im happy waiting up to 30 seconds to re-sync when a DC'd player manages to come back.
This is more complicated than you think. It's not trivial to connect to a running game and synchronize it again between all players.
and how complicated do i think it is? im aware its not just click some buttons add feature done, however im also aware that a lot of data is exchanged between players once the fight is started. there is no reason that each client can not listen on a port durin
Rally point flags. each person can place a flag (of their own colour) showing where they intend to go, would aid massively in coordinating teamwork. you can place to lead an attack and anyone supporting can drop theirs near yours to show they are coming to help or viceversa.
i would make him actualy a realy old / weak DG that has made a steam powered exoskeleton to enable him to compete, based on a scavenger/creator character type. his minions he could gather the armour from creeps that have fallen nearby and create them from that (kinda like lord erebus' night crawler thing) except its a garunteed 1 minion per ## amount of dead creeps instead of a % chance to convert one. one instant ability could be:when he kills a DG he sca
on networking issues, a uPnP option in game would be a great savior in my opinion. yes there are some historic security issues around it, however its certainly no worse than say running IE. if players could simply say "yes use uPnP to sort out my ports" since its enabled by default on most modems / routers then any changes to portmappings etc can just be done via a game update or in game if needed. if you want proof of how well uPnP works for p2p just look at uTorrents
sounds like a lot of fun, however you shouldnt be able to "use" it, it should just activate at a random time anywhere from 15 - 45 seconds :) ohh neat i have full mana ! / where the F*CK did my mana go !!
dualhead systems are getting to be pretty standard these days, i have been using them since win98 and ever game i play i have lamented that my 2nd monitor is sitting there doing nothing (or just watching irc etc) adding dualhead support would be great for allowing a persistant info window, showing scores, and spells screen constantly, as well as a chat interface perhaps.
ok so sitting there for ages waiting for a pantheon or skirmish etc to work i got realy effing sick of it. tried the custom game part and could see games there, trying to connect to them worked once to the lobby, then i was dropped. so i got to thinking about what was causing this and how to actualy check if its my settings or not.(i have opened up ports 6000 - 6300 to my pc since im lazy) this morning i hosted a custom 1v1 game (1 person 1 AI on each te
was wondering if anyone knew what ports are used for network play so i can manualy open them up in the hope that i can get some sort of multiplayer game happening. so far i have not managed a single multiplayer game, even a skirmish and its realy getting to be a bit much...

in the past i have hated steam with a vengance, it got so bad that i quit CS and played UT basted games for a few years. i recently reinstalled it and its pretty stable noweven remembers my games owned from 5 years or more ago. i have bought a few games with it, and all have worked flawlesly so far. now compare that withmy impulse experiences. i bought DemiGod online. created an account, specified an email address, login nam
any staff response to this seemingly pointless and dangerous policy ? also i just tried logging into impulse for internet play, pretty darn certain i have my username/pass correct, but it says its wrong. is this another "choose some other login youmay have mentioned to us" thing? or is it an incorrect error message that actualy means the servers are down ?
ok thats absolutely effing stupid!! if i wanted it registered to my personal email that i use with paypal i would have provided that, but i didnt, i provided an impulse email so that if i started getting spam through it i could block it off easily. whats the effing point of asking for an email if your then just gonna use a different address depending on method of payment?
i clicked buy game on the website, followed instructions through, payed with paypal, reciept page said to install impulse to download the game. the main reason i bought this is due to their anti DRM policies, however so far impulse has been a complete pain in the ass, it even thinks i should have IE 7 installed, which is a pathetic requirement indicating lazy ass programming.
every time i try submitting the serial number (correctly entered, copied and pasted from the receipt page) and the correct email address it pops up an error message : Product Registration Failed: The email address or serial number you entered is invalid. Check to make sure that you have entered the correct information. (ref: 204) this is the 1st time i have used impulse, so far even steams 1st release was more reliable. if there is no solution to
