Oh OK, it looks like the power of the system has little to do with the problems. Sorry about the delay in getting back, (I bet this message is just about over). Yes I've used Microsoft Tech Support, the $35.00 an issue type. They where great, they stayed with me until the problem was fixed, all three hours and two phone calls. I can't say enough good things about them. OK, I was thinking about going to XP, until I read that article, my system being a PII 700MHz, 512MB RAM, 100

I was just, reading an article about XP in Maximum PC, where they mention you should have a 1.2GHz CPU and 256MB of memory to get the full advantage of XP. Or have at least 800MHz CPU and 256MB of RAM. Now I'm not sure about these numbers, I know my system falls short, and that Microsoft system req. on the box is going to to be far less then the specs in the article. I wonder which is closer to fact. How does you systems meet the two power specs?

Anything that does not look like an OS, tech look as you see in LiteStep themes. Elegant in use and appearance. Also the ability to move items around, change colors, and wallpapers. If this goes bad, I don't know Jim, how did he get into my account.

WOW would I have loved to have the week you had. Today was my last day at a job I had for the last 17 years, the last two weeks has been a white knuckled rush for me. And Monday starting a new job, is going to be really starting fresh, maybe I should have taken a few days between jobs.

That's the set up that I have, A Promise (Ultra ATA/100) controller with a WD Caviar 40GB 7200RPM ATA100 as master and a Quantum 12GB 5400RPM ATA33 as slave on channel one. Just a note, on the WD drive, if its going to be the only drive on that channel, the jumper setting is NO jumpers on it, that had me going in circles for two days. I've never benchmarked it, looking forward to see your outcome.

Hi, did you say you tried a controller card, something like a Promise controller card? And bypass the motherboards Pri. IDE channel altogether. I did this with my system just to make use of old hard drives I had, and WOW to my surprize got a very large, and noticeable increase in speed. The cost was only about $35.00. Windows98se thinks of it as a SCSI setup! that might bypass the XP issues. Just an idea.

Check out the contents of the theme, the .bmp files within the theme with the startmenu your interested in. Then go to Stardock website and print out the manual for DesktopX, from that point make a new theme with the bits from the themes you like. It is the best way to learn.

I think Longhorn is going to be WindowsXP's second edition, it's most likely to look the same. And I think it's due out around this time next year. But what will Blackcomb look like? The other thing I don't understand is why do I feel like having a thick steak now?
