Tactical Battles. Tactical battles haven’t been part of the beta but they’ve been heavily discussed. Originally, tactical battles were designed to be RTS. Then Continuous turns. But as time has gone on, it’s become clear that the gameplay that people (and frankly that we enjoyed the most) was more closest to XCom. That is, turn based. Tile based. Moving units to the best spots. And eventually working to have your units in spots that are easy to spo

I went against Cruel AI (FFA, 3AI and me) and if unfair is not that much of a challenge, the economy of cruel AI makes you overwhelmed both in fleet quality (techs) and quantity (number of ships). Expect cruiser spam early. In my game, i made everything Darvin3 said (except 4 or 5 because i find using the AI flaws not funny) and i killed many ennemy ships with my advent starbase but i made a mistake : i attacked an ennemy fleet witout enough strikecrafts in a system with a PJI and the

man, this game is quite tough for beginners (i almost trew it away after my two first games). Go to the wiki of sword of the stars (http://sots.rorschach.net/Beginner%27s_Guide) and don't forget to read the articles about the economy, research and colonizing, it should help. Good luck !
There's no AI. Every faction is identical other than name. There's no lore. There's no real diplomacy. There are no decent spells in that are "fun". Maybe I'm jaded but I just find it horrible right now.
From a beta outsider like me, it sure looks horrible.

The problem is that it is Steam ONLY...
And it is enough to not make you buying a game you like ? It is not as if you are earning anything from boycotting Steam and, frankly, open competition in the video games market is not in my top 10 'causes worth fighting for'. No matter how many times i read this thread, it still looks damn irrat

The voice was not that good but i love the static imagery that starts as drawings (well, i love the art of elemental in fact) : it remembers me of the total annihilation kingdoms intro ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDAXVTovJNQ ). And i think my tastes are clearly different from stager ones : i found the fable intro terribly boring. For Warhammer : mark of chaos, i think it was better but very generic (too much action, no enough

Sword of the stars race managing system is not excellent but quite interesting : you have in the tech tree some xenotechs to improve the understanding between your race and the others. If you don't research them, when you conquer the city, they start leaving the city so it is a clear loss of taxpayers. On the other hand, if you research those techs, you get some diplomacy bonus, more chances for a planet to surrender and a possibility to keep foreigners happy on your planets, which mean a mor

seven cities. 1 hour of game. 200 turns. and an army of ten units ?! I hope it is a beta feature because ten men conquering an empire is kinda weird.

Frankly, i really hope for our world these people are a tiny minority... I have been educated in a catholic school and i have a lots of friends who believe in god but i am an atheist. As such, i am evil for the people behind the conservapedia. I don't believe in god but for all i have heard, read and been thinking about it, it is not about despising liberals, atheists and homosexuals. And they think they have "morality"... They may read the bible but they clearly don't
That's false. IUn fact if you don't have iron you can build things, but it will take considerably more time. Each point of resources you don't have will cost you 1 turn. For instance a watchtower wich cost : 15 workforce and 16 lumber will take 36 turns if you don't have any lumber, but it will take 15 turns if youhave 16 lumber available. It works really well, even if it's just a beta. The more I play, the more I

"However, Wardell points out that metal will be an actual resource in the game, and without it, you won't be able to forge metal weapons or armor--which, again, underscores the importance of aggressive exploration." Please avoid the Civ 4 stupidity where no oil means no tank, no iron means no knight and so on... There is ALWAYS away to make tanks, knights and so on without oil or iron, it is just wayyyy harder and more expensive. For example

Talking about 2010, would Starcraft 2 be available on Impulse ? I suppose it is too soon to know about it but i was wondering about the odds of seeing the game released through digital distribution.

The solution is obvious. Using light frigates, long range frigates or even scouts to counter scout rush, that's an amateur job. You have to think ahead. What ? You didn't have guessed yet ?
