I take some offense to all this games on consoles are dumbed down crap, the last intelligent game I played on the PC was Starflight and Starflight 2. Mass Effect "Open World" my ass! I've been playing PC games for a while, and console games too. But you want to know what is acutally killing PC gaming. All these stupid FPS games about some space marine/soldier/merc/whatever my name is number 203.. (Granted I am looking forward to Killzone 2) PC gaming is now really only the spa

The best starship simulators I have ever played were also the best and first "true" open world games --- STARFLIGHT! and STARFLIGHT 2 Trade Routes of the Cloud Nebula! Starflight Resource Page Games like Grand Theft Auto and Saints Row or Eve, talk about being an open universe or game world but in reality they are extremely limited only to their specific actions. Starflight and Starflight 2 o
I would go with GalCiv2 for the fact that the base game itself goes above and beyond anything Sword of the Stars has, then their are the two expansions. And if you haven't purchased any part of the game yet you can get GalCiv 2 and its Expansions for only $60. Sword of the Stars is an interesting game don't get my wrong, but the only way you will really win is through military might.
So I figured I would ask if anyone else around here was going to get Killzone 2 or if anyone was even interested in it. I have to say it does look quite amazing, especially with what they have done with the PS3's hardware. It looks damn close to Crysis. And having the chance to play the beta I have to say it will most likely be the FPS of year (Atleast on consoles). Going to be a day one purchase for me.
Are you in both good mental and physical health? Do you fulfill your daily requirements for minerals and vitamins? There are strong connections that being in good health has many positive effects on the human sleep cycle, the most prominent being that if in good health you require less sleep. However being in a state of declining health in either physi
I remember asking for the old ships back to, that original KOL and Marza were a thing of beauty.
I agree Starbases should be able to move within the gravity well and just have the Vasari starbase phase. Or starbases need severe range increase while the vasari starbase needs a reduction. Also don't know if anyone else noticed this but the TEC starbase when built does not fire Autocannons. And only fires beams when it recieves the upgrade.
The title pretty much explains it, I'll post a screenshot when I can. *edit* This however did not cause a crash. Quick System Specs Athlon 64 bit 3000+ Geforce 6800 128mb 2 Gb Ram
Is it too late to pre-order for the beta?
Nerfing the Marza will detract from this game. Its simple if you want easy play a FPS, if you want a challenge play SINS. You do understand that it is a 4X RTS?
Marza's can be destroyed by both the Radiance Battleship and Kortul Devastator as well as a number or units acting in a diversified fleet formation. And its Missile Barage ability can be interupted by abilities. Again if you allow your fleet or orbitals to be easily destroyed by a Battlegroup consisting of Marzas you only deserve the wrath they bring.
The TEC are already underpowered in the military department. The Marza is a key tactical asset in fleet engagements. Nerfing it would only serve to make it useless, and I agree with what General_Harada said if you let yourself fall prey to 3 Marzas... You get what you deserve. Only through failure can one ascertain if their strategy is weak.
True, but with 30% DMG increase and its not doing better than lasers with a 20% DMG increase is bad. TEC's strongpoint weapon wise is projectiles not lasers.
If you are going to play an EA game, its best to do so on a Console. Their DRM is bad on PC's.
The Marza does not need a nerf, in fact it needs a buff in autocannon damage.
Don't be afraid to use the Akkan for colonizing, especially early game to get xp from destroying militia.
Yeah I remember a few of the discussions from my previous account, its been about a year since I last was active on these forums. Its just I wish their were other main areas of diversity other than research trees.
If you can hold your own versus the raids from the AI and the Pirates start producing combat capital ships; Kol and Marzas. And use the pirates and the raids to level your capital ships. Make sure to get your Akkan to Level 6 for the Armistice ability so If you ever get in a bind you can evacuate as many ships as possible. Or hold off for a minute for reinforcements.
Good to be back. thanks. Like the entrenchment idea. Starbases got to love those things. Seeing as they can live up to their name: a base by a star... poetry. Though would love to have the old Kol back.
Thank you for your comments Shadowhal, and yeah its been rolling around my head too. I wish the TEC would follow their lore more. And I think it would really add to the diversification of the races. Because to be honest research aside the races are just carbon copies of ships with new models and stats. With a unique super weapon to each race. I understand a need for balance, but not at the cost of diversification. And abilities can not be the only way to diversify races.
If TEC, just enough military bases to research tech to hold the line until you've maxed out your civilian Tech tree. If you play it right on a large map you can pickup a vast amount of planets and while building a frontier of tank worlds build a strong economy throughout your inner worlds. Giving you the advantage of the most powerful economy, given your not playing against other TEC players.
Depending, just bring in a few flak frigates and bombers were no problem. Man I miss the homeworld series, heres hoping it returns one day. Or we get a SINS single player campaign.
Since the beta under the username of Lock_Eye unfortunately I forgot to write down my password, but I wrote down the serial number for the game. Just created this new account since getting back into the game. A lot has changed since release.
I think making some of the TEC's Capital vessels researchable like the new Kol and the Marza would add to the gameplay and make the races feel a bit more Unique. Right now all the races are unique but feel very similar. They all have the same types of units with just different models and stats. Logically the Advent and the Vasari would not think like the TEC. Therefore military doctrine of all three would be vastly different. From a research standpoint
A link to a picture of the original KOL I'll try to find a better picture.
