Hmmm... If you're dealing with pirates or small AI fleets, I generally use hangars/repair bays. For large fleets, I have 4-6 repair bays(depends on how upgraded ur planet is) and about 15-25 turrets. For Collossal fleets, a Starbase(dur[e digicons]:dur:[/e] ) supported by 4 repair bays, about 10 turrets, a shield generator(if ur TEC) and however many hangars possible, all fighters. Koda0

You all seem to complain WAY too much. Carrier spammers/more carrier power Carrier haters/nerf carriers. It's basically just an innocent question dragged into a slurry of back-and-forth arguments on carrier power. If you don't know how to effectively bloc carrier spamming, that's your problem. If you think carriers need MORE power, you obviously havn't used them en masse. As for the question that that started this post, carriers don't REALLY need weap

I agree with Twin Snakes, I generally set my Nova's to auto-fire once my primary enemy is gone.(I play on large, multi-system random maps, so it takes 10-15 minutes for my enemies to notice anyway) Koda0

Hmmm... looking at my list, I might want to switch LRM's and Hoshiko's (I just double checked on my current game)[e digicons]^_^'[/e] Koda0

Yes, but the config. I use bends things a bit. 3) Carriers(Bombers/Fighters) screened by Flak/LRM Two in one, kinda. My fleet can never spam, directly, and I rarely use Kodiaks. Here's a list of where my fleet supply goes (in order by size) 1. Cap ships 2. Percherons(1.5 Bomber, 1 Fighter) 3. Hoshikos 4. LRM's 5. LF's 6. Flak 7. Cielo's 8. Krosov's 9. Protev's

Me, personnaly I think that the Trader's true Sins lie in thier past (hence the reference to what the Advent call the "Great Wars of Antiquity") all throughout the TEC there are references to how violent and destructive humanity was until the Traders formed. The sins of their past seem to be dominating their future, as the TEC seems to be losing the war the most. I get how the Vasari have sinned, and how the Advent continue(?) to sin, but the TEC continues (to me, anyway) to be th

Bombers weren't put into the game to sit in their carriers and wait. They were put in for a purpose, and its up to the player to put them to use. The bombers I use generally target enemy carriers first, to eliminate the threat of long-term fighter exposure. My fighters take out enemy fighters, and my Garda's and Hoshikos deal with bombers. This works VERY well for me, I can generally have 1/3 of an enemy fleet gone by the time LRM's are in firing range. I don't s

Mid, Early or late game, I use more bombers than fighters, just for their sheer destructive force. 1.5 Bobmers for 1 fighter is how I set my carriers, and I have my fighters kill off enemy fighters, and my flak kill off enemy bombers. Then, my bombers take control, free to destroy anything. Koda0

Ummm... I dunno, I guess in the file that the Starbase is under change it's identification from STARBASE to CAPITALSHIP or FRIGATE. Not an expert at modding (or anything else in the SOASE world, I'm a total noob[e digicons]^_^'[/e] ), so ask some modding experts, Danman, Annatar or Teal are the three main modding pro's I would suggest. Since the end of Sins of a Solar Empire is almost upon us, in the form of Diplomacy, there are some unanswered questions the campaign (or storyline) of SOASE leaves un-checked in both the Vanilla and Entrenchment expansions. I hope that Diplomacy will shed some light on this. As the very name of the game suggests, each of the Empire's in the known Galaxy has had some sort of sin or sins in it's past or present, and that the current war is the result of this. Not only d

It seems interesting to me, how towards the end of this forum, the less logic arguments take over, and the less experienced players stopped commenting toward the argument at all. Me, personally, I think the Marza is fine. Why? Well, given how powerful Cap. ships are supposed to be, given cost, and overall importance, the Marza is a good example of a powerful cap. ship. As for MB problems, it YOUR fault if the enemy just stormed in with a tiny fleet led by a lvl. 6 or highe

Don't complain about something you can't change... for one. Two, every race has its own OP item, you Advent fans have your Carriers, Vasari have Extrememly hardened hulls, and phase missles, and TEC has superior firepower, most notable in the Marza. In one instance, I was attacking a TEC planet, playing as TEC and he was a total Carrier spammer. Unfortunatly for him, I had a lvl. 10 and a lvl. 8 Marza, both of which used missle barrage at once, and he lost something on the

Well, for the Illums defensive ability, that does tip the scales, kinda, given how with TEC you get 1.5 times the frigate, and thus, since there are no fakes, can do more damage, and thus destroy the Illums at a much lower cost to the TEC player than to the Advent player. Koda0

25 Replies 15,386 Views

Me, personally, I think that Illums are the best... in the early stages of the game. To me, LRM's from the TEC could own any other LRF, once fully upgraded. Damage wise, no, but the LRM has the largest engagement range I've seen in a ship (haven't played Entrenchment yet, so I can't say so for the Star Bases and Ogrov Cruisers) so an LRM could have destroyed an Illum before the Illum got to do lethal damage... at least I think so, havn't tested this yet.[e digicons][/e]

I don't think there's actual TEC hate on multiplayer, i just think that the people who chose random are forced, by some pre-set equation to become a "minority" team (a.k.a. Vasari or Advent) so the TEC players have a considerable challenge, given their smaller number. As for fleets, I'll have to try out mass Hoshiko support, normally I have a Hoshiko for every Percheron, but I guess time to change... in the mid-late game, when my fleet tops off at 2500, I normally have

One word. MOONS. Well, some new(er) planet upgrades would be nice ( an entirely Urban planet with like, 650 population TEC, 600 Advent and 590 Vasari, Terran Planet Only.) Moons could provide extra population, artifacts, logistic and tactical slots and economical benefits to speed up the painful process of jump-starting your economy. They would also be pretty. Koda0

Thx for the help Annatar, Can't really try it out right now though... but while we're waiting(not to be a pest) could I have a configuration for a 2500 size fleet? Thx P.S. Sorry for the massive gap between replies, I'm grounded so I can only post while at school.[e digicons]^_^'[/e] Koda0
