My main grip is combat is far too volatile. As I showed there are quite high chance to score very high damage and very low damage. It's not as critical when you have low attack values, but when you have high attack values it becomes unmanageble. You can create super cool champion/channeler itself then wack one poor roll and it's killed. And when there are several guys who attack you with high attack values you are almost guar

It doesn't cost money to level up. That would be absurd if it were true. Now if you mean why does it cost so much to recruit champions, then that depends on your Charisma rating. +1 Nice read! :) I have a few disagreements with the implications, but all allegories have flaws :)
Mtrixis, Sounds like the game is not fun for you either, primarily due to the unfun state of balance in this game. I will repeat this to make sure people are clear: The issue is not AI. It's the exploitable, inexplicably poor game design choices. Until every one of these issues is address, the game will not be fun (outside of the figuring stuff out/exploring options stage, which I'm still in, and is, admittedly, a little fun). *Taking a city then killing
Ahh... 'Not getting it' -- immortal enemy of 'Sarcasm'
I LoLed. This is very amusing, but shouldn't happen in any game.
When an opposing sovereign dies, their faction is destroyed too. It entirely does not matter. Anyone ever arranging a daughter to get married is asinine with the current rules.
Anyone else popping out heirs with insane stats (104 essense, 42 str, 30 dex, 40 hp, etc.) I mean, I knew my swimmers were strong, but DAMN! (think it might be due to a game that got patched half-way through, not sure though).
I disagree - I think it is far more critical that the AI be fixed so that there is some challenge.
The only way that the AI can provide challenge is abusing the same tactics that players do. No amount of artificial smarts can beat an 'I win' button.
congratulations, but why should we care?
Because we have souls?
So it sounds like another issue is that unit power (attack and defense) scales too quickly.
While I see all the pieces for a great game, I don't enjoy myself that much while I play. This is because this game is in a pre-beta level of balance. Spells, way OP. Summons (of all types) more so. stacks way OP... Quality of AI does not matter when regardless of how smart you opponents are, you can simple use an autowin strategy of almost any type. I think a large amount of attention and focus needs to be put on this part of the game, because if a game is not fun (fo
Also, wisdom = essence. This is because this game was not properly polished before release :(
Although I agree with ddd that some things do not have to be explicitly explained, this game does leave FAR too much to trial and error.
1) All sovereigns do not have the same spellbooks, with the exception of custom created spellbooks, which do not have access to life & death (for some reason). 2) Sovereigns have an equal amount of starting points, instead of having some ridiculously overpowered sovereigns. 3) There is the ability to create a custom race, since none seem to fit my sovereign concepts at play. Keep it going, I'm going to bed. I get to play for an hour tomorrow before work if I wake u
Woot!
Gosh, people see something they don't like or understand, make ZERO effort to find out what's going on, and immediately begin to panic. This is why the Dark Ages happened.
Ironically, that's pretty much why the Dark Ages ended ;)
Interesting. I'm actually thinking of proposing something like this for my Senior Design project in CS. If I do maybe I can mod it in :)
+1
I hope they start using the same rules for custom as premade. I also hope that a faction editor will be back. It seemed that features were enabled and disabled throughout Beta, so it shouldn't reflect what's going to be in the game. But, I have no inside knowledge.
Lol, wasn't meant to be a guilt trip. Just thought it odd that someone would consider playing an early version of the game as ruining the experience, when they've already played an early version of (parts of) the game. Guess that doesn't apply to you in this case :)
Wait... aren't you a beta tester? Doesn't that in itself undermine your initial experience playing a game?
It'll still be a couple of hours. Bear in mind we're between gold and day 0 so we're having to put this stuff together. We weren't even planning on being here today.
Thanks for the work. It's just a little frustrating. I was especially hopeful to get some Elemental time coming in today, since my weekday schedule is stuffed full of crud I don't want to do, starting about about 5pm tonight.
