Everything that everybody has said here is basically true. It's a spare time project for me, so we'll see how far I get. Another reason I'm asking for help is that it's a lot easier to work WITH somebody on a project. So many mods don't get done because it's one person who burns themselves out doing the whole thing themself. As for unique IP mods, yea, that sounds awesome until you end up designing an entirely new game that you can't sell. Using existing IP gets you past a l

Yes, I found that too when I downloaded the new mod toolkit. I basically had to start over, but I'm using source control program now, so it's a lot easier to track what I've edited, and how, and to backtrack. Since it's all text, so far it's worked quite well.
Now that I've recieved a response from CCP allowing the use of the race and ship names, and their icons, I'm going to continue work on this mod. Thanks for the tip Annatar11. :D
I specifically asked to use information that can be found in evemon, and icon images that are obtainable from screenshots. I promised not to use any files directly from the game, and I intend to keep that promise. Still, I'm a programmer, not a graphics artist. I wouldn't mind some help. :D
I got a response: Hi, I would like, first of all, to thank you for your interest in our company and products as well as your enthusiasm for our game. We appreciate it greatly that you respect our games and rights as the copyright owner. As per my understanding, if you wish to do an EVE mod to the Sins of Solar Empire game by using names of things of EVE, we will not prohibit you from using the names as long as it is done within reason and does not infringe, represent, or misuse
Do you plan to get permission from CCP Games first?
Do you need to get permission from LucasArts to make a Star Wars mod? Or ?Paramount? to do a Star Trek mod? In this case, an Eve mod would likely promote both games, so I don't see it would be a problem. I don't intend to use any of the CCP stuff besides the general idea of their ships. It doesn't hurt to ask though, so I will. :P
I'm starting to create an Eve Online mod. I'm working on the icons and ship stats to start with. I've finished with all the caldari ship icons, and am now working on balancing out the weapons and hitpoints. I'm not going to be able to do the models/textures myself, I just don't know how. Does anybody want to pair up with me to work on this?
I'm working with the forge tools. Essentially I'm trying to create an EVE Online mod. It was all working well, I started by making the Caldari race. Using existing models, I was essentially going to make the physical stats and icons for all the eve ships to start with. I found that pretty much the ONLY way to mod the game is to make a change, load the game and mod, and see if it crashes. Every other change I attempt to make causes a minidump. I've got about 300 minidu
I found another one. Large Scenario: Random Huge(Multi) 5 stars 102 planets. The Mouse/Camera Edge strafe has a boundary problem (I'm guessing). In my case, the system I was in must have been outside a boundry of some kind. I could move the camera towards the "center" of the star cluster, but never away from the center, even though I was well within the outer edge star. IE, I could touch my mouse to the top and left part of the screen and it would slide north and
My dad bought the game today. He tried to install on 2k and it didn't work.
I have to side with the devs on this one, I saw that the old saves wouldn't load, so I made sure to play them out before I upgraded. Gotta pay attention!
I encountered, not the same but, a similar problem. I tried the game out in windowed mode, and no matter which resolution I picked, the window was always 1024x768. It was un-resizable, and unchanging, no matter which resolution size I picked.
OOOOH DANG! I forgot a weirdness: Wormholes. How do you tell where a particular wormhole goes? I found a few very cool/clever things with wormholes: If you haven't gone through it, you can't tell where it goes If you have gone through it, it is automatically added to your auto-path graph/links, and it'll use a wormhole if it's faster (But not until you've explored it). On the other hand, there is no interface to describe a "known" wormhole vs an "unknown" one.
I've noticed the same issue with on screen buttons of all kinds. Mostly in the late-game when I'm trying to mass-click all the planet upgrades, build all my buildings, and all my hangar/fighters at once, and the click event checks the mouse location about a second late. So I click and move, and it registers the mouse click about a second later when I've moved to a different button.
Odd! I wasn't really sure if this was happening or not. I believe you may be sending conflicting commands to the same ship. For example: You have a fleet mapped to Ctrl-1 You select the specific ship (say, your second favorite capital ship) and tell him to retreat. Then you press 1 (which selects the whole fleet including the one you just told to retreat) and order them to mass attack an enemy capital. Suddenly your capital dies and you wonder what happe
I have a dual core AMD XP 6000+ I was playing vasari, and EVERY single one of my planets was connected, as well as I had a trade post on every single planet, and a phase stabilizer. There was about 50 habitable planets per star, and 4 stars. It was chaos. I actually intend to finish that game before I upgrade, because I've eliminated 4 of the six NPC's and I've only got about 20 more systems left before I have global domination!
OOPS I didn't update, so some of this may already be fixed. I just now downloaded the patch notes, if any of these are described as fixed in the patch notes, I'll modify the post. Sorry!
I couldn't find an "appropriate" way to submit bugs, and it seemed like they were being reported here. Apologies if this is incorrect. I found several bugs that did not break gameplay but were very difficult to deal with. 1) Graphical/UI bugs, mostly issues with having lots of planets. Owning lots of planets (Like 50+) This causes a whole huge set of UI bugs. Among them: - My income windows are glitchy, I can't see my total income, only a few of my planet income
