Never happening, this has integrated steamworks support. However you could buy the game on steam, go into offline mode in steam, shut steam down, and then play the game.

I have played one insane map game to completion, and am on a second one now. Running 50ai opponents as well, with max minor races. But my rig is also a hell of a lot newer then yours too. So dunno.

Stopped reading at this point: "I set my virtual memory minimum = maximum = 24466 mB. Windows usually suggests 1x RAM for miminum and 3x RAM for maximum, which is likely fine, but I prefer that the system not change its swap file on the fly. Please note: DO NOT turn off virtual memory because you have 16 gB or more and you don’t see the game using nearly that much. Turning it off can cause crashes and interferes with dump files, while pr

Mangunmaniac raises a good point. I have my intergrated gpu disabled in bios. Is yours? If not I would go into bios and disable it, might be having a conflict of some type.
Yes approval also effects production. That tooltip needs to be adjusted to reflect this.
You might be able to fix it in some ways by lowering habitable worlds to rare, and cranking extreme worlds up to abundant. While they would still be obtainable it would be quite a while in game before colonization of those worlds could begin. While not a true solution, it may give you something closer to what you are looking for. It also seems to me it might even fit well with your idea of few habitable planets. Since the others need alot of work to be "habitable."
@Neilo So I have the same CPU as you and 16gb of coursair dominator ram. So same specs there. However I am running an xfx Radeon HD 6970. I don't buy nvidia since issues about 15 years ago with them so I am a bit outta date on the specs of their products. But the only hardware difference between our rigs is the video card (and maybe the sound card, I dont use onboard sound I have one of the newer soundblasters, I forget which one.) so I'm not sure how the 6970 stacks with yours specs

I've given your idea a bit more thought. I still don't think that the devs should be spending time on it as a option and that it would make a good up decision or galaxy event. (extra ships would have to be decommissioned to address the point you brought up. However I wonder if someone could make a mod for you guys that want this. That might be doable.
I think this would actually be pretty cool as a UP resolution. Kind of like the limitations imposed on the Kriegsmarine fleet pre-WWII. Have a resolution that limits civilizations from having more than X large and huge ships. Which can, of course, be repealed.
This I would agree with. But as far as an ingame option and coding? Waste of dev time, but as either a up resolution or galaxy event it could be a
