I would have been happy if Sins-2 = Sins Rebellion but on the new engine. Keep the tried-and-proven game play formula and add content by giving each race a new capital ship, a 2nd titan option, more planet / gravity well types, maybe a 4th race, a campaign, and excellent online multiplayer features. Fans of the original should then be happy and it would still be a brand new game to people who never played Rebellion. Instead, the Devs are taking a chance on a new game pla

If Sins-2 ends up being a good game and a success, and if it ends up having robust online multiplayer features, then hopefully we'll have hundreds if not thousands of people online to play against, possibly with a skill-based matchmaking system, in which case people won't need to play vs. the AI if they want a more realistic opponent. Don't knock 5 on 5, team-based games offer elements of strategy you don't get in FFA or single player.

I think Sins-2 has dropped the ball in how planet info is represented when zoomed out. In Sins-1, planets are displayed cleanly with an ownership icon above and bars on the sides and below to show the amounts of friendly fleets (left), enemy fleets (right), and planetary structures (bottom) using ticks. The Sins-2 display is sadly far inferior with planets being surrounded by too much team color and solid bars for fleets instead of tick marks. I recommend returning to

I knew that not everyone was a fan of Epic, but before this I had no idea how large it was in scale and how visceral the hatred for Epic Games. If the exclusivity deal ever ends, that will be an opportunity to re-market the game as a new release on Steam.

It's brave releasing the game in a pre-alpha state given the possibility that a far from finished product could get panned on social media. I hope that whenever the game loads a big warning screen pops up announcing that it is experimental and far from a finished product, perhaps requiring players to check a checkbox that they understand it.

It would certainly be nice if the Devs got together with some of the established 5s players who spent some time playing the early release to get their feedback. I'm sure we'll be able to post it here and to discuss it with the Devs on the Sins Discord channel.

Another bug in Sins-1. Sometimes for whatever reason when you are focused in on a gravity well, you lose the ability to click on the planet so as to issue build orders to factories or to place structures and have to fully zoom out to click on the planet. It's annoying.

I might be interested in purchasing Object Desktop having recently upgraded to Windows 11, but I really want to be able to set my taskbar to the Left side of the screen with the icons going up and down the screen vertically. I'm hoping Start 11 will be patched to allow that at some point.

Sins fans would have loved knowing that the game was under development. I had settled into an "I'll believe it when I see it," mindset, but it's all good. Maintaining secrecy may be tough, but two of the extremely difficult and crucial tasks still await. The game needs to have excellent game play and polish and then you have to figure out how to market it to people who have never heard of Sins of a Solar Empire or don't know much about it, especially to fans of other 4X (Civ

(Epic)
I have mixed feelings about them, personally. Epic Games created my favorite game of all time, the original Unreal Tournament (1999) but failed to understand what they had created (an athletic-like online multiplayer cybersport and not just a disposable game) and lost its franchise by changing the game play in the sequels.
I'm afraid I don't think this is really a problem. I think what is gained by the flavor of the faction far outweighs this rare abuse. From what I understand MP doesn't use victory conditions and just has their custom etiquette and rules anyways, so I think you already have the solution. You already know you won, and you can just quit the game to avoid the loss on record so its not like the win/lose ratio is all that important anyways.
Regarding Storming Kiwi's concern, much of this hinges on how you believe people make purchasing decisions. Do they (1) See a game at a store and then buy the game only because it's at the store they like, (2) See a game they have never heard of at a store they like, investigate the game, and then buy it if it looks interesting, or (3) Learn about a game, decide they want it, and then go to the store selling it to buy it? I'm not a computer game marketing expert, but my guess is

The Military Labs and Civic Labs and where specifically to locate them (both what planet and where exactly in the gravity well) were core components of the game's strategy and resource management (Logistics slots). I would hate to see them removed. I also think the multiple tech trees make the game more accessible since it breaks down what would otherwise be one large and complicated tech tree. My advice to the Devs is, "Don't overthink this and don't outsmart
