[quote] could you build any more gates for returning armada, or did it just continue to give you ships?[/quote] I just tried this and it works just as JinxOfSin says. Returning Armada works fine on the gates I had but once I scuttled down to 4 labs I could no longer build any new gates.

Destroying/Scuttling Lab Structures (Noobish) in Strategy Sins Forums

Once you have researched all the technology you want from a given tree is there any reason not to scuttle the associated labs? I tried this as Vasari. I reseached my way up to RA, then scuttled 3 Imperial Labs, so I could replace them with Trade Ports. Even though I only had 5 Imperial Labs left, RA continued to work just fine.
