No. However there are some server calls that happen even if you're not logged into multiplayer, and as I understand it those calls from the 120,000 pirates were bringing the gateway server that everything went through to its knees. sadly, as the pirated copies won't be updated and since they are using the same code than legit retail copies, it will be hard to remove the pirate calls without annoying the legit custom

My question is, if the game requires a serial # to play online, how are these pirates getting online to crowd out the servers? Does the game check for a valid serial after logging in to the service? Are database entries for accounts created prior to checking the validity of the serial number? If so, that's not a very smart implementation, but I'm sure that you already know and are working to fix it, eh?

I hope that Stardock doesn't involve itself in regulating player behavior. As long as you can ignore/block troublesome users, that will be sufficient. I absolutely hate police state-like games (MMOs, namely), where you are muzzled and have to be pleasant. A little smack talk here and there is part of gaming, my friend. [e digicons]:dur:[/e]

Yes, it is wonderful when a CEO shows so much interest in the satisfaction of his individual customers.

Reviewers have no right to complain about the lack of a single player campaign. Why? Sins of a Solar Empire, the game that gathered universal praise, had no campaign. Unreal Tournament had no real campaign. Team Fortress 2. Quake 3. Battlefield 1942/Vietnam/2/2142. Smash Bros. (N64 + Gamecube, Wii had a decent one). The list goes on. All were reviewed with high scores. Multiplayer games can stand apart as multiplayer-centric titles. Likewise, I don't see any reviewers marking
I think thats abit of a bad comparison. Uni networks are extremely restricted for a reason, thats not really the fault of a game company.
That's not my point. Stardock isn't saying "well it's not our fault," which is the response other companies would give. My point is that Stardock is doing its best to make things work in all sorts of environments.
Exactly. I really feel the way that Gamespot jumped on it so fast was very unfair. I mean how much time did the reviewer actually have with the game? From launch that is. So he played it first day on the 14th then posted review on 15th...wrote it, made video review all that...after 1 day. Just doesnt seem proper.
For many gaming sites, it's simply a race to be the first to get up a review. The early reviews gen

Chill out m'boy. Using the term "n00bs" in any serious post will do you no good. I agree with Geno's optimism; while the ladder may not be reset, things will fall into place. It's Day 2, alright? Don't expect the rankings to mean anything yet.

Good catch. I assume that the writer is aware of the networking problems, and he is hoping for a quick fix by review time. Perhaps the Day 2 patch will make a difference (response to it has been very positive thus far)? Let's hope so. EDIT: Yeah, he's taking Brad's words to heart and giving Stardock time to get things up and running. Bravo. Unlike the Gamespot writer, he is willing to review the game that people will be playing, not the disaster of the first 24-48 hours. The n

You could not be hearing it because: Your sound settings (OS) are configured for a different number of channels than your in-game settings or your current speaker configuration Your sound card or chipset may not support enough voices to play all of the in-game sounds concurrently

Keep in mind that Impulse Phase 3 (the current version of Impulse) includes the Impulse Reactor, which supposedly has advanced NAT negotiation features. I assume that the NAT negotiation isn't quite working as intended (networking is a real pain and it's unreasonable to expect a NAT-related tool to work on all systems on day 1), so stand by and you should be able to connect without any router modification in the near future.
I know my post has nothing to do with this thread, and i'm sorry for the attitude. Regarding what i posted, i just did it because i've been around this bug for long (http://forums.demigodthegame.com/346250), since beta2 if i'm not mistaken, and there is no relation with CPU or Creative, since many of the complainers in old beta threads had powerfull and recent PCs sometimes with onboard sound and no rela
I had sound popping issue when I first bought HL2, years ago. Had the same issues with VtM:Bloodlines as well, and it turned out to be an Engine issue. With that said, I've read on countless forums that people have problems with SoundBlaster cards and sound popping. I've experienced this same problem with my on-board RealTek sound, due to they cannot write drivers to save their lives and when I would upgrade, every game would start to pop
I think it is unrealistic to require router modification as a requirement to play a game online. The average gamer is not a network technician nor do they want to go to that trouble.
Seriously? Port forwarding is often necessary, especially with bad routers and P2P netcode. There are hundreds of PC games that require port forwarding. Yes, it would be better if Demigod could better circumvent NAT so port forwarding would n
I'm sorry but reading that is just revolting. How can you say that? Do they pay you? You know this issue? http://forums.demigodthegame.com/346250 Or is GPG simply ignoring this bug like you have been since beta? I have 2 friend from RL with this issue and have to play with no sound. And you say "There are no known sound problems with Demigod." ? When is GPG go

Reply to Strit Nat in Demigod
I still am Unable to join any game online do to my strit nat. I have tried fixing it but it dose not seem to want to be fixed. it still Runs wow pretty well.
WoW is client-server, but Demigod is peer-to-peer. In other words, NAT issues are far more apparent in P2P games, so you will have to hold out hope that Stardock engineers a way around that. Have you attempted setting up your gaming machine for DMZ? That should bypass most router/N

Sound crackling/sound popping is a nasty glitch but I doubt that Demigod is responsible. There are many things that can cause such issues, and it is no surprise to me that Creative's sound cards are once again doing this (they have a history of it, sadly, although other cards and chipsets can have the same problem). The best you can hope for is tweaking your settings (CMSS 3D and all of that) to find something the reduces or eliminates the sound glitch. Sound cards and drivers ar

Reply to Frogboy on IGN! in Demigod

Well doh, I didn't see it in the forums but it WAS on the Demigod blog. Oh well. Still worth generating more exposure, I say!

Our beloved Frogboy (CEO Brad) has submitted a personal video message to IGN. Cheer up troops, he's working for you! http://pc.ign.com/articles/973/973368p1.html (I did a search for this and couldn't find it. Forgive me if it has been posted.)

Well, try updating the following drivers and see if it helps. If it does not help, you should contact Stardock support and tell them the steps you have already taken to resolve the issue. It may be an obscure bug. -Video card (nvidia.com) -Motherboard (gateway.com) -BIOS (gateway.com) -Sound chipset (check Device Manager to identify it and then visit the maker's site for drivers; Windows Key + Pause key, then click Device Manager, and expand the Audio/Sound Con

Do you happen to notice the hard disk thrashing a lot when it hangs like that? HDD light going non-stop, making noise, etc. How much space is left on your hard drive? Is it heavily fragmented? Do you have System Restore enabled? Do you have the Indexing Service enabled? When the game stops responding in the middle of a match, what do you see and hear? Does the screen literally freeze at whatever you were seeing in-game? Does the sound stop? Does it continue normally?

Easy there. Before you start kicking and screaming, demanding a refund, allow Stardock and the community to assist you. You will need to provide the following information, at the very least: -Your system specifications, including CPU, memory, video card, operating system, sound card/onboard sound, and any background applications that may be running, such as anti-virus or chat -Provide greater detail: What is "takes forever?" What is your system doing while it is loadin
