It was the mysterious files in the My Documents folder. Once I deleted them everything worked great. Thanks though.

So I decided to make my first mod, and I mean EVER, on any game. I decided to start very simple: replace the major races with Star Trek races, matching them up as best as possible, so that I didnt have to mess with changing stats or super abilities. I followed a modding guide and got to work changing the RaceConfig and the CustomPlanets file. Finally I finished and everything looked great! The new pictures and descriptions were all there.
