anti-bomber shield umbrella ability Basically anything under the protective umbrella which has a limited radius whilst active is 90% resistant to bomb attack damage. The unit can be a cruiser that specialises in protecting caps from being alpha-bombed by hunter carrier packs for a short duration. The ability has no effect on other weapons. The Lore , is that the umbrella creates a disruption field that causes bombs to malfunction by disabling their circuitry. <b

The only small problem gameplay wise... is there a problem with choking planets right at the start? possibly descriptor... "There is a tale that the perfect alignment of planets in the Samarian Sector would bring great fortune to whoever controlled it. Unfortunately this has led to nothing more then the bloodshed of many superstitious factions"

Sins is also a 4x game. Many players arent going to do the whole skilled expert thing in this game . Most players will play offline and very casually. They will treat Sins first and foremost as a 4x game and the most important element of a 4x game isnt one of the "x" , its actually the ability of the 4x game to immerse the player in the Sins universe - some call it roleplay. To have two races that have barely met , to have the same way of trading , to have the same way of colon
making the squadrons automated entirely would probablly balance out the terribleness of Flak lol... they would all choose different targets and the focus bombing would be significantly reduced. Not saying for or against mind you!
Id rather they fix flaks , but how?! One way I reckon is to have a special function called "guard" When a ship is in guard mode , it is "low priority bandboxable"...as in You can bandbox 4 caps and 10 flaks in guard mo
Slated for release in February 2008, Sins of a Solar Empire is definitely high on our most-anticipated list at Plain Games, as it promises to be one of the best space RTSs to date. This is the end of the Plain Games review. It speaks for itself I think.
What game holds that crown atm??? :NOTSURE:
The problem with HW2 is that since it is usually played on smaller maps people usually spam uber fleets anyway despite the weak resourcers, and having to protect roids. What you described was a typical MP game of HW2 for me :/ Which is what eventually turned me off to the HW series. However, now that i think about it p5yy is right. This resourcing model could be done on top of the fleet logistics points. Most people use the traders as agro magnet free meat shields right now, beca
In short, the game mechanics do nothing to prohibit several fleets instead of a huge steamroller, nor do they encourage the huge steamroller. The mechanics make allowances for both, and people not taking advantage of multiple fleets is not a "fault" in the game that needs any fixing.
No , it is the games fault , it does need fixing. I will explain... Ill try something , lets give the Flaw in Sins game design to homeworld 2. Lets make Resource Collectors in Homew
Will I fix this? no ... as i said on sins.bz, why wont you fix the problem?
basically , not worth doing ,weighing up with the fact the bugs arent stopping people making maps and the release of ICs editor coming soon.

just a bug, you mess up if you start deleting planets whilst you are making phaselanes. follow the instructions stepwise. Otherwise you may get phaselanes going off to wrong planets. Ive identified the bug when you delete planets , the id variable of all planets change however the phaselanes have two stored id variables of the planets they are suppose to connect to that dont change when you delete a planet. Thus you get messed up phaselane connections.<b

Ive used it in 75% of the games ive played. I used it in a 2v2 on Flashpoint today. The asteroid linking my homeworld to the enemy homeworld , I felt needed inhibiting after I saw a contigent of Krosovs at his homeworld ready to move in on that asteroid. My fleet was stationed at a different location.
I'm really wondering why some people did vote for "More RTS" in the poll. Can it be more RTS? I mean, go wait for StarCraft 2 if you want an RTS game. Could one of them explain us why more RTS and how?
Space RTS's has been few and far between. We have had Nexus and the Homeworlds to name a few but nothing recent , need I say more?

The problem with the autocast is that I cant really see how improved AI is going to help some of them imo , what needs to change is how the abilities are used. forexample the Shield Restore... It should instead restore minimal shields to all within a sphere of influence. This results in two things... Firstly for manual use , all you need to do is just press the shield restore button and Secondly autocast would be better at mimicing what a player would do
