AI should automatically declare war on players of opposing faction. It's what I would do. :P AI should know which monster spawners to leave along and farm when they get strong and which to kill right away. For example, farm butchermen in the hopes of a maul weapon dropping. AI should purposefully trigger strong monsters near enemy territory and run away or suicide (preferably with expendable units). Really evil AIs will powerlevel strong monters near enemy territor

I know that early game, 1 point of initiative penalty is noticeable. Perhaps the penalties should be harsher but there has to be a way for units to wear plate without being completely stuck. Mind you, none of my games have reached the point where I researched plate armor. The issue may be that it is much harder to get plate armor for units versus champions. On the flip side, with a small investment in warfare technology it is easier to equip units in the early to mid game than champions espec

What I like about MoM and MOO2 was that they were fun and a decent sized game could be finished in less than 8 hours without the dreaded mop up phase dragging on. Beta .75 had a lot of that. Beta .77 less so because now making champions powerful is a chore. I still maintain that champions should not have been nerfed until they were tested against decent AIs. If you spend 100 turns turtling or farming exp for champions of course they will be overpowered versus the brain dead AI. Try de
Very much agree. Both heroes and monsters in the wild need a lot of balancing. Ive restarted plenty of games because both of the heroes near me were the wrong faction. It is so easy to just grab all nearby heroes off the start that if there arn't like 3 than I feel hard done by. Monsters should be more agressive and thye really need to scale better. Now it's either 1 tiny monster or a giant monster leading an army.

Heavier armor is better unless you don't have enough strength to carry it without becoming encumbered. The problem is that it is too easy to get very high strength values.

I disagree with Path of the Assassin's getting more strength. They should get their damage from criticals and multiple strikes instead of raw damage. Maybe they should get some ability to bypass armor just like spears if criticals do not do so already.

Well, Counterattack is only available if you have Path of the Defender. I think Crushing Blow, Double Strike and Stun are on the Path of the Warrior line. Path of the Assassin has Gamble Strike which is kinda weak. I think the Acrobat trait should be only available if you have Path of the Assassin. Path of the Assassin also needs more Crit chance, Crit mod and initiative boosting abilities.
Biggest problem with champions is how easy they stack movement and initiative bonuses. You shouldn't be able to stack mount bonus with compass and boots, plus only some classes should get fast/impulsive talents. Secondly the game mage champion talents make tactical spells practically free and 150% more powerful.
Try designing units with compasses, put 6 in an army and watch them move 8 square a turn. With movement trait and o

Quoting Wintersong, reply 2 I think that they are overpowered against a poor AI. If the AI was finished and/or we were playing multiplayer, I'd take more seriously the "Champions are totally overpowered".
The 1st-turn fireball rampage is entirely AI-independent. Also, roaming monsters cease to be a threat really quickly, and become a boring hassle around turn 100.
I a

Rather than nerfing every overpowered strategy, I rather leave them in and have the AI exploit them so that players have to worry about getting steamrolled by the AI's champion stack or blizzard of doom. I really think that balance issues should be looked at after the AI has been improved. Finding and fixing crashes and bugs should be the focus of this round of beta.
all unnecessary chores that don't give present you interesting choices or dilemmas should be either automated, abstracted, or removed altogether. You can always bypass it by auto resolve if it isn't your cup of tea. That being said, even without the AI s

The main issue I have with tactical combat is how bad the AI is. I've only seen wolf packs show any signs of intelligence. They like to go after your weakest unit. Why can't more armies use specialized tactics like focus fire or target weakest or target strongest enemy?

I'm wondering what challenge rating people are playing at. When I started playing I was setting the game on Normal but found the AI to be very bad. On Challenging the AI was able to match my power curve but was still very bad. It is only after setting the rating to Hard that I've found the AI to be worth anything. I bring this up because I feel that a lot of people are complaining that things are over powered without properly testing it against AIs that actually pose a challen

The Canadian situation is a little more complicated that most people realize. Most of the internet trunk lines are owned by 2 or 3 big telcos plus 2 or 3 cable companies. These guys are forced by the CRTC to sell bandwidth to smaller ISPs in order to promote competition. Rather than expanding by laying their own network, most of the smaller ISPs have decided to leech off the the larger ISPs' networks. And why not? The CRTC has basically guaranteed that they will always be able to

I had to check and uncheck the show prerelease box in preference + do a refresh for the elemental status and restart Impulse a few times before I got it to display a 9 meg download to go from 1.09w to 1.1. I had to jump through similar hoops to cut the download down when going from 1.09u to 1.09w.
