Thanks for that. I actually got that path mentioned when I tried to apply the manual install update file instead. As you suspected, the reg key was completely missing. I've managed to source the correct key and values from a compadré and all is now well!! Thanks for your help!

Update: Uninstalling SDC and reinstalling did not fix the issue; it still reports SOSE as being not installed.

I used the menu option (right click SOSE line and chose "Check for Application Updates" The screenshot below shows what the current state of affairs is: [img]http://the-crypt.info/images/sdc.jpg[/img] Although SDC says the game is not installed, it most definitely is (you can just make out the line of "-----" that shows that SDC THINKS this game is not installed.) From the highlighted menu option you can also see that archiving is not an option until the game

Purchased SOSE a few hours ago, downloaded the game via SDC and installed it successfully. Game plays fine, version number is listed as 1.01 in the bottom right corner of the screen, shortcuts are present in start bar and install files are in the[color="#4169E1"]C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\Sins of a Solar Empire [/color] folder. Trouble is when I did an update check on the game, it tells me that the game isn't installed and prompts me to install the game again! I don't want to
